C.A.R. Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 This is only really applicable to a few members here, but is good info if you are looking to get your full CC/NC licence: Cliffs: - You do not need to attend a OLT, IF you have competed in at least '5 x CAMS sanctioned Supersprints or regularity events, or 2 x Tarmac rallies...etc' - If one of the above conditions is satisfied then only attendance of a medical and a lecture will be required. - The Licence cost in unchanged from the $400+ More info here: http://cams.com.au/en/Media/News/2012/IMPORTANT_CHANGES_TO_CIRCUIT_RACING_LICENCE_REQUIREMENTS.aspx http://camsmanual.com.au/pdf/09_gen_regs/GR03_Licences_2012-2.pdf http://cams.com.au/en/Media/News/2012/~/media/31DAD9CEB1A142D3B7F6D7CBB574A075.ashx IMHO this is a good move, as trying to get to an OLT day (normally mid-wwek) has always been a PITA for a lot of people. Now to procure a suitable race car...! Quote
260Coupe Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Wow that's good news.........I had to renew my L3s (from an old "general comp license) back in 2003 after a few years away from racing and had to do the OLT ...........$650 at Calder on a 45 deg day in a three layer race suit with the soles of my boots melting on the firewall of my Zed !!! 1600dave Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Bit of competition from AASA perhaps ?? $263 for Clubman Circuit, suitable for all events except National Series / Championships isn't too bad. "CAMS-sanctioned supersprints or regularity" - hmmm..... More and more events that I do (eg FoSC) are moving to running under an AASA permit, which I assume means they aren't "CAMS-sanctioned" ? Very timely though, I'm looking to upgrade from L2S in the new year. Quote
dat2kman Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 This REALLY does make it a whole heap easier, and less onerous to get into door handle to door handle motorsport. Be it with a pretty well modded car, or something pretty standard, ie like Historics or Prod sports etc. The car will still need to meet certain requirements though, not hard at all. I would encourage those sort of jst thinking about it, to move up a rank, after all, you cant keep playing with the littlies doing supersprints the rest of your capable lives. So many wait for so long, then decide to just DO IT, to realise, they shoulda done it years ago. These new lesser requirements now make it so much more accessible. All we now need is an organising body, (cams) to make an event directors/organisers job easier, that will come! ( written by your European correspondent, from Granada Spain) Quote
260Coupe Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Making motor sport more accessable also requires making events less costly and have more of them..........with only three "Hesteric" events per year down here in Vic.........grids are full with long wait lists, the number of races for each group beting reduced hence track goes down while costs go up. my 2c Al Quote
