Hi guys, have any of you guys used the Pertronic electronic ignition conversion kit and what are your thoughts and experiences of it.Also do you have to change coils or not ,or can I still use my standard ballast system with good results .Lastly can you buy in Australia or do I have to import from the States , I see I can buy one from about $75 us plus postage whereas here in Nz the strokers asking in excess of $200 nz.

Thanks Mel

Hey Mel

I fitted one (about $70 from the US). Works fine, easy to fit. I've since changed to a high output coil ($40). No problems to report. Haven't driven a car with a 280 dizzy in but I'm happy. Go for it...

Sorry Mr adams but i have to agree with Wildy here, i've done them both and the stock internal setup on the points dizzy is nowhere near as fragile as the 280ZX dizzy!

I would vote for the Pertronix system with new coil and remove ballist resistor.

Thanks guys , I think I will go for the Pertronix, a 280 zx is $250nz here and I can do the other option for half that, also I want to keep the stock look. I don't have any problems at the moment I just looking for smoother running during warm up etc. Last question is any supplier better than the others or is it just wether they ship to NZ , I see the shipping costs vary greatly.

Thanks Mel
