    Vapor lock

After investigation I have found the fuel pump is not delivering enough fuel so starving the carbs. I am finding it difficult to obtain a kit for the original pump, do you guys have any reliable/ good sources in Australia? Thanks mel

Thanks guys, yes I was talking to some other guys and they also suggested the non vented fuel tank but am not totally convinced as this is anew problem that has developed. The problem is that I only drive the car about 10 times a year , never in the rain etc.i have had fuel issues in the past and had changed fuel filters etc, blown out lines and float bowls so might be bit of trial and error. Also no fun being stranded on the side of the road miles from anywhere with just a screwdriver and crescent for company but that's part of the fun of a 40 year old car right. Vapor lock

Hi guys,I have a standard 71 240z with twin hitachis on it.after driving it hard after about 20 mins it runs rough and then loses power, after sitting at the side of the road for about 10 mins I can restart and am away again----- is this classic vapor lock?-- it has the standard return pipes that circulate the fuel from the pump to them carbs then back to the tank which I thought was to alleviate this. When I stop and hold the pipes they are pretty hot which you would expect as bracket is bolted to inlet manifold but how hot does the fuel need to get to vaporize ?. Appreciate any thoughts ,thanks. Mel
  8. Thanks guys , I think I will go for the Pertronix, a 280 zx is $250nz here and I can do the other option for half that, also I want to keep the stock look. I don't have any problems at the moment I just looking for smoother running during warm up etc. Last question is any supplier better than the others or is it just wether they ship to NZ , I see the shipping costs vary greatly. Thanks Mel
  9. Hi guys, have any of you guys used the Pertronic electronic ignition conversion kit and what are your thoughts and experiences of it.Also do you have to change coils or not ,or can I still use my standard ballast system with good results .Lastly can you buy in Australia or do I have to import from the States , I see I can buy one from about $75 us plus postage whereas here in Nz the strokers asking in excess of $200 nz. Thanks Mel
  10. Hi guys,I am currently running standard 14" jelly bean alloys on my 71 240z and am looking to change to some mini lite copies with the option of either 15x 7' or 15x8 's or staggered figment with 15x7's on the front and 15x8's on the rear.Have any of you guys run any of these options and which is best.I guess the staggered figment is best to neutralize any oversteer or rear end step out under hard cornering , am I right ?.your thoughts and experiences please. Mel
  11. Hi Guys, can any one shed any light on this little problem. When my car (71 240z standard everything) is hot it is really hard to engage 1st or reverse, ie graunching. What is growing when hot so that the engine is not completely disengaged when i,m pushing the clutch in.Thanks for any help/advice you can offer.Mel Z

  14. Hi Guys, i'm after the little short likage that goes from the rod off the firewall down to the throttle shafts.I think someone has called it the "j" linkage, its only about 100mm long like a little hockey stick. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. Thanks Mel

  16. Thanks guys, your car looks great Sulio, sort of the look im after. Do the springs(Kings) fit the standard platforms? and if the shocks are past it are you fitting strut inserts or replacing the whole leg then. Mel
  17. The springs in my car (71 240z) are a bit 'saggy' on the drivers side...I am wanting to replace them - but thinking I might want to lower the drive height by just a few inches - I want to keep the car looking as original as possible, but still think I could get away with dropping it a few inches, what springs are recommended by you experts out there and does anyone know where I can get some? Thanks Mel
