Hello all,

 

I may a slight issue with registering my 260 when she's all finished.

 

I phoned SA Vehicle standards way back 5 months ago and told them I was putting on triple carbs but plumbing all the crank case and venting pipes back into the air cleaners etc etc, The young guy on the phone said yep thats all ok, so I bought new carbs and sold my old ones.

 

I just called now and asked the same question and seems that, that was all wrong and I need the std carbs on the vehicle to get it passed problem is I no longer have the std carbs or manifold.

 

Just wondering if anybody has a manifold and carbs laying around I can borrow to get passed through regency inspection in a few months time.

Call and ask again? Probably get a different answer.

likewise, if you spend a bit of time reading up on the ADR requirements for the emissions systems, you can probably convince them that your still following the rules.

Standard carbs for your car are the flattops.  I would be able to help you with roundtops.

 

As Nizmo said, ring again in a while and get a different answer and then make sure you get his name too.

I tried to speak with a different person, be each time get transfered to David Gunner (senior service advisor).

 

I might ring my contact down at vehicle Id inspections see if he can do me a favour

Thanks roberto, I think any type of twin su would be ok, not sure if they would no the difference.

 

Just have to figure out where all those hoses go again for the su's and dummy them up so they look all connected

If so, then you can borrow my SU carb setup that is bolted up to my original L26 that is not being used.

 

No need to worry about where all the hoses go.  It's pretty straight forward, unlike dealing with Regency......

I've lodged a formal complaint with Service SA about this and also with the SA ombudsman and also have my lawyer preparing a letter.

 

Lets see what the out come is.

 

I rung up and asked about compliance plate replacement or removal and get these responses, within 20 mins of each other

 

Operator one – Yes that’s fine, just call your manufacture and they can get you one

Operator Two – Yes you can relocate it, as long as you have it on the vehicle

Operator Three – No, you cant get a new one, Me – Can I get a letter or sticker from you, reply – No (hangs up)

Operator Four – If you don’t have one, you must have a full inspection, Me – I do have one just would like a new one, Reply – Well you cant

Operator Five – Sure, just go into your local office and ask for a form, fill it out and send it in, the new plate will be posted to you.

 

 

Its crazy, all I want is a new shiney compliance plate

If you have your old cp just refit it and get it through id.

Regarding carbs if only id and u have proper filters none would have noticed or said. I know few ppl going through id with their z with twin su turbo setup and cage and went through no probs.

 

You complicating things too much. Also questioning too much.Dont say stuff unless asked. If car presents itself well they wont send you to the pits. If its a pig they will. And than its a lottery who u get. Even if u have tripple carbs fully sick cam they prob wont care too much.

 

I was worried  for my r34 for id. Took less than 3min with pass handed over and comment "here u go have fun"

 

Things u need to make sure u tell them. Engine number with the chassis number both old and current if they not matching in paperwork at the moment.

 

If you are missing the build plate order new blank one from us and stamp the chassis and engine that was last regod with.

 

Ive been around cars and regency quite some time and i know you cannot get a replacemnt plate from manufacturer or from rego dept. they only issue one and if lost damaged its gone.

 

Lucky US guys make blank replicas of factory build plates.

Update,

 

Just received a letter from regency saying that they had a made a mistake and they will allow me to fit the triples with no issues.
