Ledge Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Some nice pics here lads Scroll down past the rx's for some S20 goodness http://www.7tune.com/feature-the-fairlady-zed-432r/ And http://www.7tune.com/odd-spot-ultr-rare-432-r-fairlady-z/ Quote
luvemfast Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Would the info on these brakes help out Jason and other Z racers? Quote
sydney mike Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 OMG, absolutely stunning car. The old Rx's aren't bad also. Which makes me think my Zed needs a wash. Thanks for sharing, Ledge! Quote
dat2kman Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Yes, infirmation on the supply, as a new car, WITH those brakes and rims fitted, is what we are after The calipers are Sumitomo MK63's, which i can get, in both vented and non vented. What is not shown on this 432 restored car, Alan T alludes that it may not be a R model, is whether the discs are vented or solid. These rims are the option parts rims, at 7" x14" We just need to show that these were produced in the S30 body shape as a variant, with these items fitted by either factory, or a dealer. The documentation to actually prove this, is still difficult to obtain. I wonder how we could communicate, succesfully, with this Thailand based collector, to find out what documents he has, as well as detailed wheel removed pictures?? Anyone care to try their Thai?? These rims are the option parts rims, at 7" x14" The wheels are fairly recent Aluminium replicas of the Nissan works 'Rally Mag' 7j x 14" wheels, which were never sold to the general public as standalone parts, and were never fitted to any new cars for sale to the general public. End of story. If you're looking for any evidence of a car being sold by a Nissan dealer in Japan with the vented MK63s and/or any of the parts in the Nissan 'Sports Options' lists already fitted, then you are going to be in the realms of personal anecdote. I have no doubt that it probably happened, but proving it to the extent that a race organising body ( and your competitors ) would accept it is another matter altogether. Half the 7Tune article is wrong and the car in question is not an accurate representation of a genuine factory 432-R - let alone a genuine one - so I wouldn't bother trying to use it as the basis for anything. Sorry, I know it's not what you want to hear, but that's the way it is. Quote

Interested to know; what are the giveaways? It looks like the tacho only goes to 8k and the steering wheel looks like a standard series-1 model? If you've got/know of a thread somewhere on any forum detailing the differences I'd love to read (I think you built a replica yes??? Maybe I'm getting mixed up with all these inter-forum usernames and such. Forgive if I am.) Cheers Quote
dat2kman Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Click on the link in the original post above, scroll through it all, go down to comments, Alan T has been very helpfull in pointing out a few things. Yes, a minor setback re getting original confirmation on this car being sold via dealers with the good, required bits fitted! One pissible avenue, would Nissan have supplied it with the goid bits fitted, direct to a rally team, say in Africa, or for the Monte Carlo. If there is evidence that cars were made available with wide rims, big brakes etc, this may be able to be used. Alan T HS30, thank you kindly for your input, every bit helps! Quote
