bluerat Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Hey Guy's just checked the running results for Targa Wrest Point. With 5 stage to go Datsuns are cleaning up in the Classic Handicap with the Duggins Sports 2000 2nd outright, Mick Williams from Tassie in his Yellow 240Z 4th, Devinish 240Z in 5th, Goodwin in one of those very, very rare 1969 240Z's in 9th and Chaplin in a mighty 1600 in 11th. Outright Classic is being led by Cooper in his A9x with Devinish a fine 5th, Mad Mick in 9th and the Duggins in 14th. My little mate Eddie Maguire, no not that one, see the pic's of his Escort on Lurches page, is cleaning up the Showroom class in his 03 Evo by over a minute, beating all the Evo 9's and 10's!! I missed the ride as he got Steve Glenney to sit in the silly seat, you may of heard of him!! Hodgo Quote
dat2kman Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 And how about the Perana of Junior Meidiecke taking a flying leap into the Huon, closely follwed by a Subaru STI, landing upside down on top of the Perana. Thread over on PF! Now, how can it be that a little four cylinder, very old Datsun, (Duggan), can manage to do so well, and it is pretty well all original! Quote
handsandwhich Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Not that it really matters but I think the wrx was first in the drink. Quote
bluerat Posted January 29, 2012 Author Posted January 29, 2012 I was wondering what happened to them!! Ouch. My other little mate Dan Wilson was navigating in the Pirana, I better send a text!! maybe it thought it was the Amazon and wanted to go home? The Duggens are always up there in handicap, they must be a great little car those 2000's....I'd have one, but I'd kill the first little beard'y man who said 'Nice MGB you've got there... Quote
zed74 Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Thanks Jason, I don't free so bad about my "minor" off at THC last year! :'( That would have been very scary for all parties involved - you don't think of carried scuba gear in tarmac rally And how about the Perana of Junior Meidiecke taking a flying leap into the Huon, closely follwed by a Subaru STI, landing upside down on top of the Perana. Gordo Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Now that would be quite scary running off the road and landing upside down in water. Quote
danrace260 Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Just got a phone call from the old man (rob devenish) he ended up getting 4th outright in classic and 2nd outright in early classic pitty im stuck up here in port hedland working would have loved to be down there cheers daniel Quote
Scando Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 We put the tinny in this morning and watched the Cygnet stage from the river. Top way to do it as you don't have to be in the stage before the road close and we had an awesome view. The Devenish Z sounded very very sweet. Huge drive from Mick to be running top 10 for outright classic in what's a fairly basic Z. He'll be stoked if he hangs on. Bluerat, Daniel went to hospital but is ok from the reports I got. Nasty trip down to the water for the Subie! Quote
bluerat Posted January 29, 2012 Author Posted January 29, 2012 Sounds like a top spot Scando, I should of been down there with you rather than up here cutting wood and getting the bloody hay in! Did you drop a line in? Good news about Dan. Ok, Dan Dev was spot on, it looks like Duggen won Classic handicap in the Sports 2000, Rob Dev was an Excellent 2nd and 4th outright, Mick scored a well driven 4th handicap and 8th outright, Goodwin was 9th in handicap and Chaplin 10th in the 1600. Well done to everyone for flying the Datsun flag!! Eddie M won Showroom by a minute!! Quote
Scando Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 You'll have to come down next year, that's if you're not running in it yourself. We can take the boat down to surgers bay and try our hand at car catching Quote

We can take the boat down to surgers bay and try our hand at car catching You using treble gang hooks? And what pound trace. Do we need a Tassue fishing licence, or will the one I have up here, written on a Cornflakes box be ok? Might have to go with a Penn overhead reel on a decent Ugly stick and increase the nylon breaking strain a couple pounds! Hodgo, lets do it, bugger going for Marlin, we can target the big Perana's! Quote
Scando Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 bugger going for Marlin, we can target the big Perana's! Haha, Gold! Quote
Scando Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Picture taken from a mates Facebook. Reminds me of the Piranha 2 movie except you can't see the strings making this one fly.......... Quote
bluerat Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 LOL what a ripper!! Will do Scando, bugger the Penn, we will need ARB...winch that is!! The Smithton Mafia were down watching and the bogan mobile has just got a coat of paint, Engine's in L'ton getting 4 bolt mains, big crank and Carello's, someone is pretty fired up for next year! So it might just be you and Jason... He dragged out a T10 Gearbox case to dummy up, guess who's name and address was on it...Mr Bailey's, small world. Quote
260DET Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Is the huge rear spoiler on that Perana legal? Quote
bluerat Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 Aaarrhhh yep, they have run it for a few years now, genuine RS3100 replica copy. No one has protested. Siddens is using the BRE Spook on his 240Z as well. The above two are a bad example, sort of, If your not running top 5 there not real fussy and the S3 Spec is pretty free. Quote
PZG302 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Is the huge rear spoiler on that Perana legal? Yep, that's how they left the go fast shop in seth afreka. Basically same body bits as the euro rs2800 jobbies from the German factory. Quote

260DET Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 So the Perana is legal. So there were no S30's raced in say Japan that had good gear presently not used in targas? Quote
PZG302 Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 So the Perana is legal. So there were no S30's raced in say Japan that had good gear presently not used in targas? The biggest problem with the Zed is that they were homologated as group 4 and 5, iirc, sports cars. So they had plenty of go fast bits that are only eligible for the equivalent of today's GT3 and prototype sports car classes. This is also why those who race Sc can't get the good bits like 4 spot brakes and 10" wide wheels. The perana may not have FIA homologation, so the spec is based on how they were built and proven to be delivered, a similar situation to what i'm going through with the s14. Quote
