Mossy: Where is MOS burger?

 

Retro: I haven't really identified anything I need at the moment parts-wise, but I will give it some thought. Any parts anyone desperately wants me to look for while i am there?

Theres a few mos burgers around in the larger shopping plazas and  there is one at Tokyo airport..well was a few years back. Its a Green logo sign and similar to our 'Grilled' burger shop here in Melb. As Mossy said its delicious. Also seen them in Thailand and Singapore.

 

As for parts i'd love a fairlady z grille, datsun door or fender mirrors, or 40-44mm triple carb setup. Happy to pay you a finders fee and luggage weight/postage etc .but guessing those items will probably cost a mint.

It's just a fast food chain, they even have one on the Gold Coast. IMO there are way better places to eat while you are over there!!

Well lads, I am back from Japan....

 

What a trip! Literally! It is a great place...the trains are out of this world. So much better than any of our systems it doesn't bear comparison.

 

Anyway...I made it to Rocky Auto, and the owner (Yoshiya Watanabe) greeted us like royalty....sat us down and had green tea with us even though he can't speak any English and we couldn't communicate! I had a mate with me who is a National Geographic journalist, so he took a squillion pictures, some of which I will post when I get them. The metal on display was awesome. A number of those early GTR skylines with the L20 engines in the showroom, and an original 432 240Z. I sat in that one and drooled as I looked at the 10,000RPM (factory) tacho. I also got sat in the black one he has with the big flares and RB engine.

 

The one he has with the yellow and carbon fibre black panelling and carburetted RB engine is a sweet ride too. He started that one for me and I have some video of me giving it a little rev....I will post that one too!

 

All in all, a great day with a great bloke and lots of toys. There are plenty of things for sale there too. I asked the price on one of the early GT Skylines and it was $77,000. The GTR Skylines he had in the showroom were pricey too...the KGC-110 was $220,000. I didn't even ask how much on the 432 240Z!

 

It turns out there are quite a few places around Nagoya that do this kind of thing, so you have more choices than just Rocky. If you choose to go there, it's pretty easy to get to. Just take the Shinkansen (fast) train to Nagoya, then the local Tokaido line to Okazaki station, and a taxi from there will cost you $8 and about 5 minutes.

 

Anyway...I can highly recommend the car scene around Nagoya, and if you happen to be there at the right time of year (September), definitely consider the Auto Legends car show at Port Messe, Nagoya. It has all the Japanese stuff up to Keith Black Hemi powered top fuelers.

Sounds awesome, man I really got to make an effort to learn Japanese.
