Scoota G Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 Welcome, why not go the 1" Patrol. I bought mine from supercheap for around $150 trade price. Quote
Scoota G Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Got one in Brisbane, can post $70 Now that's super cheap. buy that one instead. I bought my cylinder head off this fine fellow and it's a ripper! Quote
dat308 Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 thanks for the help guys everywhere i looked they didnt say anything about the patrol m/c but i think ill try the 280zx first if that dont work then ill go bigger. Do you happen to have the part number for the patrol m/c . Thanks dat2kman ill buy the one you have (It is the 79-81 m/c im after cus the later modles dont fit from what i have read up). I live in vic so if you could work out total price and then let me know i then can put money into your bank or paypal if you have it.thanks again guys. Quote
sco_aus Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 The 15/16th 280ZX MC is plenty for your brakes mate. Quote
dat2kman Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Whoa, one i got here came off a 79, size on it is 14/16 ths, ie 7/8 ths, not 15/16 ths, so pedal affort and movement/travel, would be a poofteenth differemt than a 15/16 unit, and far different from a 16/16 ie 1" Let me know if what i have is ok for you, it came straight off the boosetr unit and comes with the mount plate for the zx booster, i can supply the booster too if needed. This eas tne odd one, import badged as a Fairlady zx with l28 non turbo, but had turbo ecu fitted, along with a steering rack, not like normal zx Ausdie deliveted jobbies.it was a 2+2 . The 2 seaters also had racks instead of recirc ball steering. Someone eade in here re the pedal affort and movement isdues between variuos size master cylinders??? Quote
dat308 Posted December 12, 2011 Author Posted December 12, 2011 hi dat2kman i already have an after market 7/8 ths and it hits the floor to stop the car so that's why i wanted to try the 15/16 ths i also found that the rotors are suppose to be 12mm thick and they are only 6mm so i have ordered new ones hopefully that also helps . if the one you have is from what i can understand is equivalent to 7/8ths then its the same as i have already .That's if i read your message right. thanks Quote
Zedback Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 dat308, I have the same problem, 7/8 master cylinder kicks in about the same time the pedal hits the floor. Was very exciting getting the Z back in the shed! Rang Repco today looking for a 15/16" JB1361, they tried ATAP, Protex and PBR for me, all of whom said they don't stock them anymore, though they do have the rebuild kits. I'm thinking I'll have to go with the 1" Patrol M/C. Quote
dat308 Posted December 12, 2011 Author Posted December 12, 2011 Hi Zedback yes im starting to think maybe ill have to do the same do you happen to know the part number for the Patrol 1" M/C . I take it they bolt up without any problems. Quote
wildy55 Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Hey dat I've a master off a 280zx spare. How can I tell if it's the one you're looking for? Let me know and it might be the one you're after. Quote
dat308 Posted December 13, 2011 Author Posted December 13, 2011 thanks guys for all your help . I order a patrol m/c jb1419 from autobarn for $150 hopefully its the right one does anyone have a photo or picture of the patrol m/c they could email to me cus i can return it if its in new order. Hey wildy55 the 280zx came out with 2 m/c the one im after is the early model 79-81 the easyest way to tell is that it bolt to the booster at 12 and 6 o'clock . the later models bolt up at 9 and 3 o'clock if the one i ordered is wrong and you have the right one i need ill get in contact with you about buying it of you once again guy's thank you Quote
dat2kman Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 dat308, the bolt pattern on the master is yes, 9 and 3 o clocks, but there is a plate that slips over the master spigoty thing that also has the corrsponding bolt holes at 9 and 3,,, but,,, this plate also has bolt holes at 12 and 6as well, ie two bolts into master, from the booster, but as well, a further two shorter studs from booster through this slip over plate/spacer thingy looking at it, all we really need is the two nuts holding the master onto the booster. A brace from the other end of the master say to the strut tower, would help stopp any flexing cauesed by hard pedal pressure, I run these in my race cars, using a braced L shaped bracket, with a head of a bolt touching the other end of the master, and a couple of nuts done up tight where the bolt goes through the L shaped bracket, bit of nut tightening causes the big bolt head to put pressure on master, thus when you stomp your foot on the brake pedal, it wont flex. Doesnt flex?/ get someone to watch the master and booster, and you sit inside and stomp, yes it moves a bit, beesdicks type stuff, but there is movement! Quote
dat308 Posted December 13, 2011 Author Posted December 13, 2011 thanks dat2kman i learnt about the flex with my street/drag commodore it flexed a fair bit so i put a strong brace bar on the master and it stopped it flexing its much better. ill probably do the same to the dato Quote
Riceburner Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Do you have any pics of said brace Jason? As long it doesn't give all your trade secrets away Quote
