Who has hilux calipers on their zed in Melbourne?

Hi guys!

I'm going to order a new pair of wheels for my zed, before I do that I want to check that they fit over a Hilux 4 pot brake caliper so when I do the upgrade I don't have to buy spacers/new wheels.

So if anyone in Melbourne has a zed with hilux calipers, some time to spare and are happy to donate their car for my test fit I'm sure I can arrange for a 6 pack of delicious, delicious beer to find it's way into your fridge. I'll supply the wheel to test fit and jack if I have to and I'll also come to you.

Thanks in advance :)

What I want to check is if the wheel spokes rub the caliper.

The wheels I have don't have caliper clearance as a design consideration so I want to check if I have to order the "big caliper" centre (3 piece wheels) or if I can get standard centres with a bit more dish.

I have 12+8's on vented magna rotors, you'll need 260z hubs with this setup to get the caliper centred. I have konig rewinds 16x8 0offset and have 2-4mm clearance. My cars is on blocks atm 2hrs out of melb.

What sort of wheels are you looking at and what offset?

I currently have Work Equip 03 on the car and I'm looking to get a wider pair for the front. I'm looking at 15x7.5 -9 but offset isn't really my concern at the moment as I'm buying new and I really just want to check the caliper clearance with a "standard disk" wheel I have to see if I need to tick the "big caliper" option for more caliper spacing and less dish.

Thanks for the offer Gareth! If there isn't anyone closer to town that can help I'll let you know :)

Measure how for out the caliper sticks out from the mounting face of the hub then you can measure that clearance on the inside of the wheel to the lowest part of the spokes. Pretty easy to measure on an 03 as it has a flat spokes.

If it were me i would be running 15x8.5 -12s all round with the 'O' Disk (deep dish) 205s on the front and 225s on the back. Bet it would be a bit of a squeeze but looks good - (FYI i havent done the maths on those wheels, there is a pic of a US Z running watanabes in those specs on here. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,7070.0.html)

I think this thing is on the money:

Is that Zed running spacers on the front? The hubs look like they are just about flush with the wheel centres  :o

Nope just 8.5J -12s all roung

The 8 -3 rear pair of wheels I have on the car now are pretty close to the guards, most likely only survives because of the rear camber and in my opinion sit on the car really well. It should squeeze in a 215/60 pretty easily this way and still look great. Here is a photo of what a 15x8 -11 looks like and based on that I think an 8.5 -12 will look a bit silly without a guard flare or some pretty stretched tyres as it sits out a further 8mm to below:

I have them on my road car with the vented rotors.

Im in Cheltenham if you want to give them a shot.

I just might take you up on that offer Ash! I'll send you a PM :)

Yeah you are definitely right there -12s would not fit. 8.5s come in +1 though wonder if that would clear the strut? 107mm of back space they are only running 4mm closer to the strut than an 8" rota RB and dont forget we are talking rear here. They shouldnt stick out any more than the 8J -11s you post and you could run your 8s on the front?
