mark240 Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Hello my name is Mark I used to own a 240z 15 yeas ago and sold it in WA. I'm about to purchase a 240z from Sydney, it has a blown head gasket. I was talking to Jason Lee (President of Auszcar) in QLD about getting parts for a rebuild, I was wondering about the availability of parts in Australia for a motor rebuild or a reconditioned 240z motor. Can any one recommend a mechanic in the Hobart area. Thanks Mark Quote
Sirpent Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Speak to Peter Mc I'm sure he can source a L24 and reco it for you and ship it across to the mainland (Tas), at least that way you know you will have one hell of a decent motor built by someone who lives and breathes them Cheers John Quote

bluerat Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Howdy, Mick's the man for Zed parts down here, just don't tell those bloody Mainlanders about him! There's both a 240K and R30 L24 up here on the coast in a dismantlers yard going cheap. Best option might be to reco the original motor, very easy job for any competent mechanic, they are a very simple motor and parts are not a problem. Another option might be a rebuilt L28 if you want a little more power, there everywhere and a bolt in fit. Scando has his finger on the pulse down South as well, he might be able to recomend someone in the Hobart area to do some engine work. Who services your can now? have a chat to them... Hodgo Quote
oldzguy Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Welcome Mark, I can recommend Phil Young engine reconditioning in Grove Rd or Tas Engine reconditioning services in Sunderland St for rebuild or maybe even just a head surface, gasket set and get it going again? what area, (approximately) are you in? cheers Wayne Quote
