Bruce Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Has anyone had any recent experience in trying to buy or sell vintage / veteran cars. Quick background to the question, my father in law pasted away earlier in the year leaving a 4 car garage containing 2 1920's Nashs, one is restored and one is in the early stages of restoration. There is also 2 1946(7) Nash sedans, one which is running and registered and the other complete but requires total resto. I have been given the task of clearing out the garage, and whilst it would be great to be able to keep them, it is not possible if I am being realistic. So my question is, can anyone recommend a suitable place to try and sell them? I have a vague idea regarding their value. cheers Bruce Quote
dalee Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Hi Bruce, Not a personal experience but dad got a 1912! Invicta running for someones widow 2 years ago. That went to auction at Bonhams in Melbourne and she was very happy with the result. Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted June 22, 2011 Moderators Posted June 22, 2011 Shannons auction may be a way to go; they may have a good idea on what price or try and locate a club that knows? Quote
Bruce Posted June 22, 2011 Author Posted June 22, 2011 hey thanks Dale, I might look into it. another issue with them is that they aren't highly sought after like a ford or chev of similiar vintage so unfortunately the market for them is quite limited. cheers Bruce Quote
Zedback Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Hi Bruce, We're in a very similar situation with an early '30s Austin 7 special plus a second chassis and years worth of parts. I'm keeping the Morris but after 4 years the Austin stuff is being let go. First stop for us is marque specific car clubs, then various vintage car clubs and lastly the major classic car mags. Just in the process of making contact with the various Austin clubs. Don't know much about Nash's but I've seen them in the mags often enough and i would have thought either marque specific or general vintage clubs would do you as well. Quote
lightmaster240z Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Bruce I would try getting in contact with the Veteran club in Vic. If you cant get the detail I will ask the father in law for them he a member. I think he has a contact/ mate that is in to Nash I will ask him for you. regrads Bruce II Quote
L28 rat Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Various car clubs ,mite help Itll help guage theyre worth But what theyre worth and what you actually get are 2 different things MANY resort to on line auctions or auction houses as , what they sell is what theyre worth on the day just cause its not a ford or chev doesnt mean its not worth much See if you can track down old copies of unique cars and such, that can help as well As for vintage tin in brissie Anyone got any old cars/bodies or such For a project im doin Not fussed on make/brand Shoot me a PM Quote
