PZG302 Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Well the car had a slight altercation with the armco at Lakeside today. Does anyone have any guards and headlight buckets they would lime to sell. Trying here first before I chase up new ones. Also chasing headlight covers. Quote

PZG302 Posted June 20, 2011 Author Posted June 20, 2011 If you can't find anything more local, I have some down south in Mexico..which lens covers are you after? Thanks Dimitri. The headlight covers I'm after are cheap , really only after the plastic covers without the chrome surrounds as I just attach with self tapper screws and they can cop a bit of a hiding on the track. I think I might struggle to find the body parts, and get any semblance of repairs done in the limited time I have until the Lakeside 50th anniversary meeting, as I will be spending two weeks of the next four between now and then in Melbourne for work. PZG302 Posted June 20, 2011 Author Posted June 20, 2011 Left or right ? I have one set in the big shed if your down south Both left and right...... Will be pulling the bits off today to see if the guards can be salvaged, but will still be interested in getting spares. Let me know a price and we can work something out to get them north. Again, a big thanks to all on the forum who have come forward to help me out. Quote

Why dont you contact Freddy at TOPSTAGE, I believe he has made up moulds and can do them in carbon fibre also. Quote
PZG302 Posted June 21, 2011 Author Posted June 21, 2011 I would prefer to keep steel, and will be trying to reuse my existing guards as they are lighter than fibreglass and have been flared and rolled specifically to suit the tyre and rim package I use without looking like a stuck on flare to keep the smoother lines of a standard looking car over one with the ZG or IMSA type flares. I also like the fact that in most contact I have had in the past, they dent and the fix is to just push back into shape at the end of the race, rather than the problem of breaking or shattering as glass can do. I also have the problem that flared guards are too big for what I run, and standard aren't quite wide enough to fit the 18x8 I run with a -2mm offset with the 240 wide slicks. If you see the photos of the car from the Cootha Hill Climb thread you can see that the guards aren't flared a lot and I don't have much clearence for the tyres. The downside of course is now finding guards and buckets. Quote
. Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Buckets aren't an issue. I have checked and I do have pleanty of spares I can offer. The blinker panels are a slightly different story. I know I can offer at least one but not sure about the other side. I will have a thorough look and let you know. I might be able to make some headlight covers too. I have some fibreglass ones that we can use to bend warm perspex over??? ITs worth a shot. Quote

As for the headlight covers, if you have or can knock some glass ones up, that's all i need as long as the scrutineers can see that the lights work the car is legal. This Sunday is out and depending on how I go with the rest of the week pulling the car down Imaybe annoying you Saturday, or one evening early next week. I'm hoping I can salvage the guard and get the new spoiler to fit up to get through the Lakeside 50th Annibversary meeting before taking the time to fix the car properlybefore my last round in November. So at this stage Jason will lose his drive in September at Morgan Park at the one hour. Quote

I will have a play with perspex and let you know the result. I'm interested to try it anyway. Quote
240zed Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 I have a good front guard painted with hy-fil (need to check which side) and some buckets, a few front bars some with more bends than others, lower aprons. Quote
PZG302 Posted July 2, 2011 Author Posted July 2, 2011 A big thanks and karma to Greg who presented me with a pair of headlight buckets complete with lights this morning. It is very much appreciated and will help no end in getting the car ready for the Lakeside 50th Anniversary Sports car meeting. Hopefully will get the left one on this evening and start to get the guard sitting right, or using the guard offered by 240zed for a better repair. Dimitri, I will PM you when I'm in Melbourne and know what the lay of the land is. At this stage i fly out Friday arvo, but looks like I'll be avialble pretty much any other night. Thanks again guys for the help in getting the green monster back up and running so I can chase this championship. Quote
