Ok I was thinking of dropping a 2jzgte into my 1981 280zx because I need a motor for it and my brother has a friend who is nuts over supra's and said he had a 2jz motor and supra transmission he could sell me. Any way I was wondering if any of you fellas have a good source that maybe has some pics and step-by-step on how to do this kind of swap any ideas would be great, and yes I am sticking with the 2jz motor. I have already had people on other forums telling me i am an idiot for wanting that motor so please don't bother saying it again if thats how you feel. I am looking for help not looking for people cry over my project.

Thank BrownBomberZ

did try they were the ones giving me the most crap about it

Yeah, if it isn't an L-series, LSx, or RB, they can't fathom why you would want to swap it. Oh and don't forget the Rota/Watanabe wheels.

hi mate

this is to easy all you need is a rear type sump and make new mounts did this conversion in a weekend once, it easier with a 5 speed as they are smaller than the 6 speed ,if you are a handy this wont take to long as they are a good fit and a top motor , check out the Arizona z car web sight there is a 240 with one in it, in the customer's car section

Thanks Kato I will give them a try...And Peter how much harder is it to mount a 6 speed I haven't seen the tranni for the supra motor but I am pretty sure its a 6 speed, and I shale check out Arizona Z haven't been on there in a while. Thanks guys less then a day this has been posted and I have gotten the most help here....oh yeah and Six-shooter your right even though HybridZ says their moto is basically do what ever you want and/or can do to a Z and do, they really don't seem to help you too much especially if you are new to the forum like me. I have been on here a few time and have had a ton of help

Well if i have to make the mounts my self I was wondering, can't I just find someone that has done this conversion to say a 240, 260, or 280Z and copy what they did? my 81 280zx has the same motor and tranni mounts correct?

yea that would be my luck anyway lol...hey just a quick question, you guys know anything about putting a z32 full suspension in my 280zx

like what would need be moded has it been done?

Well just got an email from betamotorsports and the guy says the could make one for my 280zx, just if they have a car and motor to make it and it will cost close to $1200 USD so i think ill pass for now

well the only thing I am getting from that build is that he is slamming it to the group, I am not doing this to mine. I think I am just going to get the aftermarket suspension stuff for my 280zx. I just want to change some of it because it seems the 280zx crap is hard to find

Didn't BenZed build a Toyota powered Zed? and sold it to the Poms...

An S30 iirc, but should be able to give some pointers to make your conversion happen

i don't wont to be rude but if you need help to do this conversion you should not be playing ,this has to be the most simple conversion ever . and the 6 speed is a big box it will fit with lots more work ,at work we did this conversion in 7 days and we did a turbo upgrade 3in exh and full fuel system

Peter do you have any pics and stuff of putting the 2jz in a 280zx then because I have looked and looked and can not find anything on it, everything I find is for s30 swaps. I can do motor work but I don't have much fabing skills, that's why I am looking for someone with pics and a write up of what they did because I have a few friends that are great at fab work so I could get them to help.

And if you are talking the z32 suspension swap same thing I don't find much on it if anything at all, and don't tell me HybridZ cuz they really don't give help, just complane about what ever you are doing

The chassis is quite different between an S30 and an S130. That being said, if the mounts that were used on a 260Z used the original S30 rubber mounts, you should be able to use them in the S130.
