Hey guys, let's pause for a moment today, thankful for the high price that was paid to keep our country free.  Whilst we can all have a whinge about our pollies and the price of petrol, unlike many other countries we are FREE.  That fight for freedom started with the ANZACS and still continues today.

The military history of Australia spans our nation's 220-year modern history. Although this history is short when compared to that of many other nations, Australia has been involved in numerous conflicts and wars, and war and military service have been significant influences on Australian society and national identity, including the Anzac spirit. The relationship between war and Australian society has also been shaped by the enduring themes of Australian strategic culture and its unique security dilemma.

As a British colony, Australia participated in Britain's small wars of the 19th century, while later as an independent nation it fought in the First World War and Second World War, as well as in the wars in Korea, Malaya, Borneo and Vietnam during the Cold War. In the Post-Vietnam era Australian forces have been involved in numerous international peacekeeping missions, through the United Nations and other agencies, including in the Persian Gulf, Rwanda, Somalia, East Timor and the Solomon Islands, while more recently they have also fought as part of multi-lateral forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. In total, during the course of these conflicts nearly 103,000 Australians have died

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

Lest we forget.  Thank you to all of you, here and gone, who have risked your freedom to ensure that my daughter has hers.

If this doesn't get an emotion flowing .....

Stay safe and drive carefully.
