Huw Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Well.....as part of my car being hit....I have had to have a closer look at the front quarter.... and it is well and truly time that my old 7/8th master cylinder and 240Z booster was replaced..... looking at putting in an R33 booster and master, as I have heard that with a slight modification to the firewall they fit and run well. Does anyone know a wrecker (preferably in the SE suburbs) that is likely to have them? Alternatively, if i were to buy the whole unit new, where could it be found? Huw Quote
benny Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Hey Huw, Heres some i found- http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Nissan-R33-Skyline-GTS-T-Brake-Booster-/290535153863?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43a53ea0c7#ht_500wt_1156 http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NISSAN-SKYLINE-R33-BRAKE-BOOSTER-MASTER-CYLINDER-/220720333947?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3363f5047b#ht_500wt_922 Quote
Huw Posted February 28, 2011 Author Posted February 28, 2011 Thanks Benny, Still uneasy with ebay....don't know why.... Will try some of the wreckers in Moorabin and then if no luck, might have to do the ebay way for convenience. To jump around.....and mainly because I am looking a bit closer (rather than blindly following a recommendation).... would it be best for me to just upgrade the master to a 15/16" 280zx one? (which I can get new)....' or to do the r33 master and booster combo.....which will be secondhand..... thoughts? +/-? I am running r31 rears and stock fronts (odd combo - previous owner half did a 280ZX rear conversion and lost interest.....replaced and sorted with r31 but didn't do fronts as was young and poor....(now I am older and poorer)) Huw Quote
Huw Posted February 28, 2011 Author Posted February 28, 2011 also...brakes have always been funny (pedal feel) so I have: - 7/8" Master - Stock 240Z booster - Adjustable Brake Bias set-up (Wilwood Unit) Quote
nizm0zed Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 For a GOOD japanese wrecker, call the boys at justjap in sydney http://www.justjap.com.au/ I have used these guys many times before, personally and professionally. They will freight to anywhere, and they honor the warranty even if your in another state. Quote
Stivva Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Jolly Rogers in Dandy has a bunch of skylines in stock at the moment and they are $1 entry and remove it yourself. Quote
jamo240 Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Hey HUW I have an R33 booster and master cylinder here if you still need one...I got it off a half cut I used to get an R33 engine/trans, and I don't need the booster and MC, so let me know if you still need one. Cheers Jamo Quote
Huw Posted March 3, 2011 Author Posted March 3, 2011 Jamo, thanks for the offer. After having a closer look at everything, decided to try and source a 15/16 280ZX MC and to leave my Booster in (as it was refurb'd when I restored car)....................for my current purposes, the R33 one may be too big.... So, Kato, go for it. Quote
jamo240 Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 No probs HUW. I actually have a 15/16 280ZX MC in front of my standard 240Z booster, and it all works pretty well....has done for years. I have Porsche GT3 Brembo calipers up front, and 45mm VT commodore calipers at the back, with an adjustable proportioning valve front/rear. It seems to provide enough hydraulic force at the wheels without bending the steering wheel, and has good modulation too. Quote
