Sirpent Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 This is an interesting concept, however even though dynamic once you step away from it and come back to take another look the obvious starts to stare you in the face. Very few Japanese concept cars get it right when it comes to free flowing design, and I say this because they over emphasise certain aspects to the point where the concept losers continuity for the sake of shock factor. Compare this car to some of the latest offering from Ferari, you have to love the way every aspect on their vehicles flow, its like comparing a river rock after a few hundred years of submersion, gone are the roughs and what is left is form. Then take a look at the 911 family, very Little has changed overall over 50 odd years, but the small tweaks just keep drawing more and more from this series of cars, if only Datsun / Nissan had adopted the same philosophy with the Z series, I think we would have something stunning which still echoed S30 even when placed side by side. On this car looking at the windscreen rake and turret roundness, there seems to be some S30 in it, the bonnet an evolved version, the nose line against the bonnet also harking back to it. The front bar air dam is just to roar and it could do with more frontal overhang over the front, somehow it looks so much like a Mazda it could lead to a court case between the 2 over copyright, side on it has a high shoulder line, and reminds me of a Lancia Stratos, more downward sweep towards the 1/4 glass would give it more definition as in the current Benz 500. As with the front it needs more rear overhang, its just to blunt side on, and the rear look, well apart from the tail lamps which bark 1980's the rear ports are just over the top, just compare this against a Porsche and you will realise, its like looking at some Roid pumping Biff on muscle beach L.A. And its about 10 years old, look at the first gen of Z series BMW's it almost looks like the ugly twin of the 2. I'd give them 8/10 for the side on area between each axle center , the rest needs a rethink, this in production would just age overnight. My $0.05 worth. Quote

They are always less radical looking. Take the 370Z for example. This is the 370Z design by Randy Rodriguez that won the competition to become the 370Z. Once Nissan Japan had their way with, it's hardly recognisable as the same design, even though thats the design they were working off to create the 370. Quote

One thing i cant understand when they design cars, WHY do they have big wheel arch gaps? Haven't they noticed that pretty much anyone who wants their car to look good lowers it?
