53-681 Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Hi Guyz, My current dash on the 2+2 is sort of hammered - Is it easier to purchase new vinyl and fit yourself or to just call a dash specialist and pay lots of moneys? How hard would it be to fit by yourself??? Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted February 16, 2011 Moderators Posted February 16, 2011 Cheapest option is maybe to remove and strip the dash yourself, get it covered proffesionaly, then refit the gauges and dashboard. Best way to get the best result for less $$$ Quote
Scoota G Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Or you can get a dash cap, when you can find them. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250766314903&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Quote
Scoota G Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Alternatively you could search this forum for info. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,1618.msg11685.html#msg11685 Quote
stevofoxono Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 if its just a few cracks cut them out until you get a \/ even shape, sand it a bit then put in some silicone+vinyl paint over the top, using a sponge gets a similar texture to the original vinyl. The silicone expands+contracts with the original vinyl. Lots of write ups about doing this, google is your friend. I just bought $12 of black sellys roof/tile silicone and will be fixing mine up over the next few days Quote
53-681 Posted February 16, 2011 Author Posted February 16, 2011 Hahaa sounds good, but I'm not too confident pulling this off myself... Does the dash condition affect Road worthiness in anyway??? Quote

stevofoxono Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 I needed to fix my windscreen anyway so the silicone didnt go to waste, Might take your advice mate haha Quote
luvemfast Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 I needed to fix my windscreen anyway so the silicone didnt go to waste, Might take your advice mate haha Don't use silicone to fill leaks in your windscreen, it will make it worse over time and add to rust woes. Use sikaflex. Quote
