bullzed Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone has any ball-park price figures for a satin 'cool white' paint job on a 280zx? Not looking for anything perfect, just something that isn't uneven (can't be as bad as what it currently has). Just wondering how long it'll be until a paint job will be on the cards Also: That "turbo" decal running under the side moulding, is there a NOS production for that nowadays or would it have to be done with airbrush? Looking for that in fire engine red to suit my rims. Quote
dazzed Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 im checkin out the pick up at the back and the one next to the 280, hey , nice wheels. Quote
bullzed Posted February 1, 2011 Author Posted February 1, 2011 Sorry guys, haha but here's my rig. Quote
Sirpent Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Buddy, I did some calculations in my head as to what I would charge for a low bake finish, but Id better not post as My karma rating would plummit...LOL With the decals, unlike years ago, the mobile guys who do pin stripping for Panel Shops these days can have them laser cut to any design. Have a look and do a search on line. Cheers John Quote
bryan3976 Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 i got quoted 3.5k and thats mates rates Quote
Whittie Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 I got an estimate of 5k to do my car. That's full body prep, paint, post-paint prep, materials and labour. Of course $2000 of that is materials, so cheaper paint would reduce that price. If you just want a cheap job I'm sure someone would be happy to do it for cheap depending on how much of the pre-paint prep you are preparred to do yourself. The paintjob currently on my car allegedly cost $2000 and it's not THAT bad, leaves a bit to desire tho. Quote
chartoo Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Heres what i did. When to the tafe adult education paint course one night a week for 8 weeks. Borrowed a compressor and gun (or hire) and bought the paint materials for about 600 and then did it my self. If you take your time it will be an ok job and you will learn a lot Quote
bullzed Posted February 4, 2011 Author Posted February 4, 2011 Cheers for your answers guys, time to weigh all the costs up. Quote
