RB30X Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Hi again. I've been driving my car for a bit now and I know I live in Nth QLD and there is a least 3 holes in the ozone layer directly above me, but has anyone noticed how the rear hatch window acts like a magnifying glass when the sun is shining through it? I seems get really hot in the car. I've made sure all the firewall holes are plugged etc so engine heat can't get in, but even when driving with both windows down the air just seems to get super heated in the back. When the sun came up from behind as I was traveling home yesterday I could feel it buring the back of my neck as it shon through the rear hatch. The obvious answer is get a nice dark tint for the windows, all my previous and current cars have a dark tint as you really need it up here. Thing is I can't recall seeing many Zeds with tinted windows in pics. A dark tint doesn't really seem to go with the theme of an old school racer. What are your thoughts? Quote
PeterAllen Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Tim You've got a computer controlled Chev in your Datsun... I don't think the tinting, nor a Vintage Air system, would be out of place. You do however need to ensure the car is not too comfortable or your wife and kids will be wanting to travel in it! Quote
garvice Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 My windows were tinted by the previous guy, but I will definitely add a darker tint one day, I think tinting really sets the car off. I also think you should be one of the last guys on this forum worrying what the purists think, can anyone say 570z??? Quote
lightmaster240z Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Tim, go with the dark tint for two reason. One keep the car cooler, two security it harder to break in to a car with tint and harder to see what in side regrads Bruce PS I have mine tinted Quote
matt drago Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 I did the dark tint as well. For two reason, to cut the heat and the uv. Bruce, I never had much luck with tinting stopping people from breaking into a car. The old Pulsar lost two radios, via different windows, that both had a tint on them. Or did I use the el-cheapo tint that doesn't add that much strength? Cheers, Matt Drago Quote
lightmaster240z Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 It just stop the honest thief's or slow them down Quote
zedevan Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 my zed has the 'darkest legal tint' on it - the other way to stop the heat through the rear window would be louvers, i've got some if you want them?!? Quote
Riceburner Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 What about mirrored tint like WRC cars run? That always looks pretty good, it would go better with all the chrome IMO Quote

RB30X Posted December 19, 2010 Author Posted December 19, 2010 Mirror tint is illegal isn't it? Quote
peter t Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Hey Tim this is what you need for that 70's look or my mate has a very nice metal one to upgrade to the 80's. But you would have to put an octy strap around it to keep it on. Cheap rear spoiler as well. Quote
