Vidstud Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 I've just fitted the above to my 240Z. Having trouble relocating the oil pickup. Has anyone done this successfully? Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted December 12, 2006 Administrators Posted December 12, 2006 Hi there, I have read about this problem before. I believe one of our members is familiar with how to fix the problem. I will PM him with a link to this thread and hopefully he will respond. If I had to guess I'd say you need the oil pickup and oil pan from a 240z or 260z. I think the sump design on the Skyline L24 is different amongst some other differences in that particular L24. Quote
240ZR Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Hi vidstud, I have done 2 of these in the past, you cant actually relocate the pick up but rather extend the legth of the pick up tube. This means you have to cut & shut the pick up & join a section of tube etween the 2 pieces. You may also need to massage the sump along the area where the extended tube runs along. I hope this helps, If you need more help, you can call me on 0416 283 194. Nick. Quote
NZeder Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Well I have had a L20ET front sump some in my garage for some time (need to get my #$#% together and clean the bits and send them to Australia ) and the blocks (well the L28's and this L20ET) have space for the oil pickup to be relocated - you need to drill/tap the mounting holes and drill the hole into the oil gallery. You also need to drill the hole for the dipstick. You then need to block up the front oil pickup hole (either a plate or tap the pickup hole and install a plug) and also with the front dipstick hole.
