Z Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Was visitng a mate today who has an exhaust shop, seems this 260 is avaliable. I have put in "Parts" as the guys there say it's not worth restoring, maybe a few guys who have 2+2 dailys could use the parts... his cousin/nephew bought it for $800 apparently! Call Kyle on 3806 7500 during business hours if interested. Quote
. Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 I know its hard to tell from photos but that car looks good enough for a resto Casey. Are you sure you shouldn't grab that front left guard....and maybe some wheel nuts? Seriously though you might want to grab the moustache bar from it, you will need it if you decide to proceed with the R200 conversion.....what the heck just grab the whole car Quote
garvice Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Greg, your signature says you wont stop till you have the full set. You don't have a 260z 2+2 yet do you? Doesn't look too bad from photos, though photos can be deceiving. Then again see far worse cars come back to life. Quote
Zedback Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 What side of Brissie is he on? I can add it to my "Dead Zed" collection which currently stands at 3.5 My wife really will probably kill me given I only brought another one home last weekend Quote
. Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Just tell her she is imagining things and it is just that you have moved them around Quote
garvice Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Just tell her to put her skirt back on because you're the one that wears the pants. Quote
Z Posted October 27, 2010 Author Posted October 27, 2010 Right! Looks like we have a taker on the car as a whole, good luck! Quote
Zedback Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Don't say sold yet!!!! It takes courage, finesse and more than 1 weekend between "honey, I've found this Z, and it's really cheap" (not to mention my pants are in the washing machine and you know who controls that ) But seriously if he's southside and no one else is showing interest I might get brave. Looking at the photo's it's a far cry from unrestorable and in better nic than 1.5 of the 3.5 Zs in the collection Quote
Z Posted October 27, 2010 Author Posted October 27, 2010 Ok, car is still for sale, it really is a parts car only fellas. Quote
gilltech Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Hey Z, it really is that bad is it, as in just about impossible rust issues to chassis rails etc? A real shame, the photos must do it far more justice than it deserves then. So you can see how people get themselves in trouble buying cars sight-unseen on the internet after looking at a few images. Quote
Scottz Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Go for it Mike. I'll buy some parts from you and you can tell your wife that you will be making a profit. Quote
. Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Buy a welder, grinder, compressor etc and tell her its all a present for her to start her new hobby. While you're at it you better buy a blow up doll cause thats what you'll be reduced to. Quote
Z Posted October 28, 2010 Author Posted October 28, 2010 So true about buying on the Internet! I did not go over the car myself as it was just an opportunity to let the forum know about a car but yeah, think its a swiss cheese candidate. I reckon if you can see $500 worth of parts in it (i.e. thats what you'd offer) then it's a goer. In saying that I mean driveline parts only, the gearbox is probably worth $400... Quote
garvice Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 I couldn,t even sell my box for a hundred dollars, ended up getting takers at 50 Quote
gilltech Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Shame. I hope someone finds some useful parts on it, like glass & mechanical, a pity if it all goes to the dump, but then there seems to be a lot of 2+2 stuff around for sale right now & tired old bits don't seem to fetch enough to make the trouble of hauling a rusty old wreck home worth while let alone stripping it all down, dealing all the while with rusted up fixings, & then getting rid of the body. Quote
260DET Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 I couldn,t even sell my box for a hundred dollars, ended up getting takers at 50 Worth more than that I would have thought, to someone who actually needs one as distinct from someone getting a spare. Quote
Zedback Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Damn, he's not only on the right side of town he's really close I'll check it out and make an offer. See if I can't bump the "Dead Z' collection up to 4.5 While you're at it you better buy a blow up doll cause thats what you'll be reduced to. Galderdi, I've already told you I really don't want your 2nd hand one Buy a welder, grinder, compressor etc and tell her its all a present for her to start her new hobby. How do you think I got the ones I've got!! I'll buy some parts from you and you can tell your wife that you will be making a profit. Scottz, let you know how I go, it's worked in the past... Quote

See if I can't bump the "Dead Z' collection up to 4.5 Galderdi, I've already told you I really don't want your 2nd hand one :PHow do you think I got the ones I've got!! Scottz, let you know how I go, it's worked in the past... I find this approach quite useful: Me: Can I have some money from our budget to spend on the car? Wife: No Me: Well can I have some money from the budget to buy this other car which will then be sold for profit? Wife: Oh in that case OK. Some time passes......... Wife: What happened to the profit from that car we bought? Me: I spent it on the car Quote
Zedback Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Had a quick look at it yesterday and it is a bit of a dog, well worn and frayed around the edges. If it was a 2 seater you would pick it up and restore it but as a 2+2 :-\ I gather there's a decent amount of rust underneath and it's in the chassis rails as well as then the usual spots. Unfortunately those panels that are not so visibly rusty are generally bashed or showing evidence of cracked body filler. The interior didn't look complete either but on the plus side it did start. Supposedly a few people have been to look at it. Just waiting for him to call me back... Quote
Zedback Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Wow! Since when did "parts car" 2+2's start going for $1500 That's 2 rusty 260z 2+2's in the last week on ebay in Brisbane that have gone for $1500+, I don't think the first one was even running Anyone going to own up 'cause it wasn't me? Quote
peterrallyman Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 If the car is still for sale how much given that I'd have to drive down to get it? Pete Quote
singhy Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 hey car still for sale? how much would it be? and where is it in brisbane? Quote
