Chrome gutter rails?.

:-\ Having problems fitting chrome gutter rails to my 260z project. Read "Zedbacks restoration project" description of how 260z 2+2 has a sharper sweep over door section & that they are 60mm longer. Is this correct .

I haven't got a 2+2 set here to compare with my 2-seat ones but that's probably about right, yes they are different 'cos the roofline is different being more angular where it kicks down on the 2+2. When I fit them I check them carefully to make sure they aren't too closed up anywhere, mask the car up to protect the paint, & roll them on by the heel of the hand gradually working along a bit at a time from front to back then repeat several times until they finally roll under & seat correctly. If your car has been repainted make sure there isn't too much paint build-up on the seams. Take your time, ease them on by hand, it's too easy to gark or dent the stainless if you knock them on with a rubber mallet or the like.

I found that the 2+2's trim looked as though they would fit if you cut a small section off the end.

They would require a slight bend to make the angle sharper and I haven't actually done it yet but I was under the impression it could be done.

Also, for what its worth the chrome window trim between the outside of the door and the window from a 2+2 can work on a 2 seater too, once again, just chopping a small section off.

Thanks for your response fella's, got hold of a set of 260's cheap. Have fitted one but can't locate the clips to install the other side.

  Need about seven clips in total. Don't now where I might buy them from do you. Also you might have problems with fitting 2+2 units as I think you will find they will kink to much when you try to bend them.

Do what I did and most panel beaters do. Put a dob of sikaflex where the clips used to be and clamp them on over night.
