ScottyB Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Just thought I should post up that I am soon to collect my first Datsun Zed in the next week or two. I have been hovering on the forum for a short period of time looking for one and getting alot of information about them in general. I come from mostly a Skyline background, have owned the following cars: 7 x R31 Skylines, 4 RB30e's (2 GTSII versions), 2 x RB30e+T's and an RB25DET 2 door. An R32 RB20DET A Galant VR4 A Z32 VG30DETT A Silvia CA18DET Cressida Grande 3ltr and more. What aesthetically gives me inspiration is something like this: And I don't know if I want an L series, RB series, VG series, VQ series or VH series powerplant. I am in the midst of alot of research and will no doubt drive around for a little bit witht he l28 in the car to see how it goes. I am a massive fan of Turbo, don't know much about Carbies and don't mind Nissan V8's at all either. Here's the car, pick it up in the near future: Can't wait.......... Quote
Mr240z Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Good Luck...You'll need it Big change from the cars you usually drive, I've gone the other way, out of a 1972 240z into a 2006 MX5 and haven't the car makers came along in 35+ years.. Quote
ScottyB Posted May 7, 2010 Author Posted May 7, 2010 I feel it is just that point in life, rather than continue along with replacing cars to find something different, take on a bit of a project that I can enjoy on a cruise, track day, drag day or just a general drive when i want. The 240's really never featured for me, but I never see them. Saw Scando's one day and that was it. I know it will be anything but easy, it will be expensive, but if done right should be worthwhile for years to come. Quote
chris240 Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Welcome to the family ...that didnt take you long ! Ive lost track of how many zed owners are called Scott cheers chris Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted May 7, 2010 Moderators Posted May 7, 2010 Congrats and well done... Shouldn't be too hard to get that look of that blue zed. Just keep looking at it for the inspiration! Quote
ScottyB Posted May 7, 2010 Author Posted May 7, 2010 cheers guys. the more I read up the more $$$ I See. I think logically, I will make the car aesthetically what I am after before I consider modifications to the drivetrain. So now to read up on ZG Flares - where to buy and how to install. What offset and size wheels I can look for, suspension modifications to lower and give camber adjustment, where to buy front air dam and rear spoiler....then painting Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted May 7, 2010 Moderators Posted May 7, 2010 Don't feel like you have to do all the mods at once... one at a time. With the ZG flare installation, I can help with the rivnuts and stainless bolts needed to bolt them on; let me know when you are ready and I can also supply the tool needed to pull up the rivnuts. Scando Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Congrats Scotty. If you're not sure of anything along the way send me a message or ask the old man when You're in at the workshop. Quote
ScottyB Posted May 8, 2010 Author Posted May 8, 2010 cheers Scando, might take you up on that....but ......went to organise the delivery of it for next sat in Sydney. Car blew up today. No longer buying, getting deposit back - unknown timeframe to replace engine etc. Shame really but glad it happened before I picked it up. On the lookout again. Quote
MaygZ Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Sorry to here about it Scotty. So close but ..... He wasn't interested in selling to you for a much reduced price? from the photo, the body looks pretty straight and that's where the time and money rest. Just a thought. MaygZ Quote
ScottyB Posted May 8, 2010 Author Posted May 8, 2010 nah he was quick to offer my deposit back and apologise. He wont and I wouldn't expect him to. Plus transporting a car that doesn't run from NSW to TAS just isn't the same as driving one back Quote
