my work, its what i do

Yeh i know it isn't a zed but i just had to share what i have done,

I took on this job for a customer about a year ago and it is just now nearing completion.

It is a 1975 XB GT Falcon I swear if it wasn't a GT i would have turned it down.

 

here are a few before and after shots and a few random shots

Keep in mind the only panels i didn't fabricate where the seel panels and the rear lower quarters. The boot floor and boot chanel was the worst i almost fabed the whole channel.

The left side of the boot floor had been repaired before in a very dodgey fashion, so i fabed a new section. Take note the pressings in the boot floor which i managed to make like the factory pressings all with a bench vice and hammer

the colour is pepper  red. for a stir i am i call it orange, the owner dosnt like thet

the engine is a stroked 351 Cleavland. He is hoping for 600 hp

What does a job like that set the customer back?

Was it a full respray or did you just blend in with the existing paint job?

it was a full bare metal respray

I am not sure how much exactly as it is my boss that handles the cash but i think it was between 10 and 15 thousand

he gave me a choice on if i wanted the job I got a lot of over time out of this one so i was happy

I did a comby van before this one that was even worse.

But at the end of the build it won best at show at the Melbourne Vw show

Very nice work I've always loved the headlights/front grill on 70's muscle cars. To think I could have owned a genuine GTHO for $13000 only 5 years ago

What can i say. I like a challenge 

There is nothing more satisfying than turning a rust bucket in to a gem

once i finish my own i might think about taking on some home work but mine takes priority at the momnent

 

Lurch your work is rather impressive also, and i have no doubt you could pull off a job like this one   just look at all your happy customers

Very nice work Mick, restoring old classics is 10 times the work of doing the same to a current car, so maticulous

 

And I know you will understand when I say that as much as you hate working on them when they first come in, it breaks your heart when they are done and leave the shop, that orange job reminds me of the XA GT RPO83 that took me 2 years to complete, I hated it the whole time then was sad when it left the shop.

i actualy love working on the old classics and i love the challenge of bringing one back from the dead. My days just fly past once i get focused on the job

I will eventually be starting my own restoration business

I just need to get my self a place with a bit more shed room and i will take on some home jobs
