nizm0zed Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 yea, they tend to send them out everynow and then. They download the same torrent, then use the Ip addresses to id you and send the emails. As far as i know, nobody (in oz) has been done for it yet. To expand on that, the majority of the copyright cases have been aimed at the seeders, rather than the leechers. If you are going to leave your pc on and seed for days or weeks after, then you'll have issues. Also, some ISP's will pass on warnings, some will cut your bandwidth automatically and some will tell the outsiders where to go, and to stop hassling their customers. Sounds like if yours was pushed slightly they would have no problems handing over your personal details. Quote

nizm0zed Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 as a simple measure against it, you can use a proxy service with your bittorrent downloader, it'll hide you IP making it harder (not impossible) to trace you. Its fairly well next to impossible if they arent interested in spending big dollars on legal fees and warrants though. Almost all p2p users in Italy use it, as its very illegal over there. I remember seeing something detailed on pirate bay about it, i'll look around and see if i can find the details of it for you. Quote
