OK all,

I know that a lot of the time my posts must be a bit of a pain to some, but there is a secret I have been hiding from everyone accept Lurch who I confided in a few weeks ago about a replacement option for "Z" overider strips.

When I rebuilt my "Z" many years ago, I came across an overider strip that was an exact replacement for the "Z" version, I will post a pic later tonite of my bar assy with it.

As I am restoring mine at the moment, I have been trying to secure a new set for myself and Lurch who I let in on the find, but unfortunately they are no longer available OEM.

The strip is off the VB Commodore bumper bars, and no one has them available any longer, however I spoke to leigh at rare Spares head office and he advised they had been considering a production run and if there was enough interest out there from "Z" owners would consider a limited run.

So im guaging how many members would be interested while he in the meanwhile crunches some $ numbers his end.

If you are genuinely interested, please respond, this could be a group buy proposition, as I said I will post a pic tonight of my bumper with the strip which is an EXACT replacement fit.

Cheers

John

UPDATE PICS BELOW.

Sorry for the tardiness of the bar, covered in a lot of grime as its been in storage and gave it a quick wash, but as you will see the fit is spot on perfect to the bar face dimensions.

Cheers

John

Or you could just buy the original from Nissan or All Zed parts in Sydney (Warren can get them from Japan)

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

You could and can, at 3 to 4 times the cost, think it best I delete this post, seems that any attempt to bring some alternatives, idea's or useful help on this site falls on death ears at times.

Im not here to come across as some know it all smart arse, and if I am, well apologies to all, think its time I slip into the shadows and get on with my own build in silence.

I think the reason you aren't hearing much back is perhaps people don't want overrider strips these days, they prefer the chrome look?

Good on you for looking into it mate.

what are the overrider strips? i thought you must have been talking about the tusks, but as u've said as pictured i'm now thinking the rubber bits? if so i'd be interested in atleast knowing the price - matt has used some generic stuff from clack rubber which looks alright (specially for the price) but the end treatment isn't that great, as has been trimmed with a knife

how's the vb items fit?

also dont be so negative :) i'm enjoying reading all your good ideas, and fresh ways of looking at things

Yep Evan, the Clark Rubber alternative was a cheaper option and you are right, the ends look crappy due to the knife cut-off.

One day I'll neaten it up, but it's not a priority at the moment.

Apologies John, I was under the impression that you could not find original bumber strips and that was why you were suggesting an alternative..........no malice intended
