luvemfast Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Cars are a year long hobby and interest for me. But I find it hard to focus on them when it turns to summer as my mind betrays me for that "other" passion. It's hard to work on the car when I'm going up to the Murray every few weekends skiing and wakeboarding. Does anyone else have a dilema like this? Another hobby subtracting time and energy from another? Also I am in need of a ski upgrade but can't justify spending too much. Does anyone have or know of anyone selling a Slalom? Quote
RBZ 260 Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 yeah got a similar dilema hmmm working on hot day in the shed on the car cursing or ripping it down the murray behind a ski boat trying to break my neck. lets face it its not every day u can go for a good ski so make the most of it. im planing from xmas break to after new years spending on the murray. dont care about cars, house, mortgage. just to have juice in the fuel tank and cold beers after the run. im in the hunt for a wake board caused enough damage to my lower back and knees with kneeboard.occasionaly go for a blast on the ski but like u need to upgrade and money is bit on the short lately. few more weeks ill be there. 620Z Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Ha Ha good question. Well I do a lot of surfing in the summer. And it's cheaper than my car including overseas trips. Also try to go away camping every 3rd weekend or there abouts. So my Car usually takes third place to these hobies even though it is the most expensive. Go figure. Quote
zedevan Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 i haven't gone water skiing in ages, and would love to give wakeboarding a go, my younger cousins are now my size and have a good boat for it so might try to tag along there! my brother also recently bought a hobbie catermaran and one of... my plan this summer is to get into kite surfing - my bro also has the gear, i've only previously used it on the beach though as it was to cold to get in the water, and before that he didn't have all the stuff or the know how and then in winter there's snowboarding which i'd love to waste more money on... RBZ 260 Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 well im always have dilema like that what toy to play with my road bike , dirt bike , rally car , zed and then skiing with family over summer though im only the boat driver never got the hang of water skiing reminds me time to get boat ready for season mick same here im the only one with the liscence to drive the boat and kinda get stuck with that job. few of my mates are fairly good at driving so on weekdays when not busy i have a bit of a go. unless my sster is over from nsw. mine got serviced not long ago and updated the sound system. so all ready for this season. just need jungle juice and another driver. thank god the boat is fairly reliable besides maintenance and insurance/rego cost. did have plans for it like a blower, differnt prop (the supercharged seadoos seem to catch me eventualy. jetski/boat drag race is getting popular on the river these days so need more power) and ski tower for extra air. but thats all big $$$ so it be on the wish list for some time. man i so wish i was at river now. 33C in the city today perfect skiing weather. luvemfast Posted November 3, 2009 Author Posted November 3, 2009 Just got back from 5 days camping at Torrumbarry and skiing/wakeboarding. I have now got a new trick on the wakeboard, face plant, down pat. 2 big ones where I came up bleeding both times, one from my eye! Awsome Had a ball, took my 2 year old daughter out on the kneeboard and biscuit too, though she cried the whole time on the biscuit. Made a new sport too. Double skiing on concave ski's off the high pole and jump the wake until you stack. What fun that was. You know you've had a good time when you are as sore as hell! Quote
RBZ 260 Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 lucky u. still got 1 month to wait till i get my chance. i had fair share stack from my kneeboard and skis. countless face plants, sore back and dislocated shoulder after a stack. also once the board ended up in my mouth. its damn painfull when things go wrong but u cant wait for some more. like u said u know u had fun when u sore. i wonder if one of my mates is comming. the poor guy always ends up in hospital after a weekend run on the river. he over dose it.
