RB30X Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 What are you doing to that bonnet? Sorry about the engine news :'( Quote
Scoota G Posted June 15, 2010 Author Posted June 15, 2010 The bonnet was smashed at the front so we cut the front off and will use the spare bonnet and some donor metal to rebuild the front. Quote
stevo_gj Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 That is what I want my project L28 to look like one day (Except with triples ) Quote
Scoota G Posted July 2, 2010 Author Posted July 2, 2010 Quiet here in Ballarat cause of the cold but Dale picked up his old school "Jellybean" 5 slots and i shot a trace coat onto the car. Quote
Scoota G Posted July 12, 2010 Author Posted July 12, 2010 This is the new spoiler. It's one dale had made directly fom the mould he made from the one he bought from the states. Quote
Scoota G Posted July 21, 2010 Author Posted July 21, 2010 Well here i am stealing my own (Dalee's) thread again. As dale mentioned the motor in Yellow is shot and in need of oil rings and such so i got onto the parts car that he bought off BenZed and had a go at getting the old girl fired up in my usual fashion... here's the result on You Tube. Quote
FuzzyDropbear Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 lol. 'That doesn't actually sound too bad, mem mem mem mem mem'. Sounds great though, even though she's been sleeping for a decade. Quote
dalee Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Its alive. Rego expired in 1999 and the two previous two owners didn't run it. Mind you I have had it for 3yrs and I had never even bothered to try. Parts required 3 car batteries fuel pump adj oil pump elec disy fuel line fuel put the bung back in the balance tube See how it goes under load but so far all indications are its a goer. Quote
Scoota G Posted August 13, 2010 Author Posted August 13, 2010 Well both Dales L24's have a similar amount of wear (check out the deposits on the valves) so with both the engines stripped bare and ready to go to the machine shop, it's back to the build thread. No more hijacking by me. I cleared the garage/workshop and block sanded the whole car after the trace coat finding 25 seperate imperfections left on the body. Most of these will be taken care of by the next coat of Primer/ Filler. Then all we need is a reasonable day in Ballarat and i'll shoot the primer ready for the Top Coat. Quote
dalee Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Still did 100mph with an auto before it decided to blow raw oil out the exhaust, never a good sign. Quote
Scoota G Posted August 13, 2010 Author Posted August 13, 2010 It's a single part acrylic PPG item. Grey from memory. Quote
Scoota G Posted September 19, 2010 Author Posted September 19, 2010 With weather still holding us up we have been kept Busy constructing a new work bench from scrap steel we borrowed from the Big W skip. Came up well for just over $100. Quote
Scoota G Posted September 27, 2010 Author Posted September 27, 2010 Had a clean out at Dale's shed and a few member drop around. New bench is very handy. Quote
chris240 Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 I love the reflection of the zed on the T.V. one in a million pic Quote
Scoota G Posted October 5, 2010 Author Posted October 5, 2010 Moving on up... it seems a soon as one is finished the other gets the Lovin it needs. Dale should like this, bodywork will be completed this week, ready to paint. Oh seen a nice rod at the paint shop today too. Quote
Scoota G Posted October 9, 2010 Author Posted October 9, 2010 Well after a week of switching between jobs i went on to complete all bodywork in preperation for paint. I'll really have to list the steps we have taken as it's been primer fill sand, primer fill sand and so on (including a dropped pot of primer in the engine bay) as it's been quite a process. Pics up and even i must say, orange is looking sweet and well on it's way back to recovery. Quote

bryan3976 Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 hmm might need to polish the drive shaft Quote
Scoota G Posted October 12, 2010 Author Posted October 12, 2010 But seriously i just buy those cheap kits from Bunnings. That and just lots of time and energy. Quote
Scoota G Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 Work continues in preperation for paint. Pedal box removed. Fuel filler reworked. And one bit i missed, i test fitted the rear tail light surrounds and just need to tidy up the area around the surround. I would have missed this other wise, on a near perfect body, would have ruined the whole effect. Test fitting is so important for more than one reason. Quote
mossy Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Really looking forward to seeing the colour on this Quote
