Moderators Zedman240® Posted October 11, 2009 Moderators Posted October 11, 2009 I think it's been blabbed about before but try rotating those knurled knobs under the carbs in and then (I think) 2.5 turns out as a starting point. Then if you have access to a carby balancer, balance them! Check your plugs first to see what colour they are. Quote

sexual_sushi Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 If you want to learn everything you can about SU's, order the video from Z Therapy in the states (you can get it direct from them or through black dragon auto). Well worth the money. It will teach you how to pull apart, maintain and tune them. Steve and I have the video, a carb sync tool and the colortune spark plug thing and between all of that we can get the car running pretty nicely. Quote

chris240 Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 hooold on... a few questions. is the car actually running ok when you drive it ? your assuming your getting nauseous because of the carbs, but it could be the carbs are sorta ok, but the residual gasses are entering the cabin thru the usual gaps.. SU's will always emit a little bit of vapour... check that the fuel tank breather hose (which runs parallel to the tank inlet hose) hasnt separated from the tank, its a common problem when the grommet shrinks and carrodes...if it has, block up the gap with some silicon to stop the fumes from entering the cabin.. I found that when I blocked mine up that the pressure got very low and there was a significant 'whoosh' of air flowing into the fuel tank when i opened the filler cap. I couldn't figure out if fuel in tank being at lower pressure would affect the cars consumption since when it gets to the SUs it is at atmospheric pressure. Quote
OZ001 Posted October 12, 2009 Author Posted October 12, 2009 problem fixed (THANKS GUYS) it was the oil catch can going atmo which causes me to get all nauseous. just gotta re-route it. the carby are fine. lucky i work next to ian cummins who specialises in classic cars and i mean classics and restorations.. you gotta see his show room its awesome. guess ill be taking my car there for some rust removal.
