Hey there,

Ive discovered a coolant leak from one of the hoses on a 240z ive recently bought, but as you can see in the pictures i need the hose to link a 20mm pipe to a 14mm pipe. As far as im aware you cant buy hose that reduces/increases in size and I cant find anyone with a brass/steel/alloy reducer to suit. Has anyone else had this problem and how did/would they solve it?

Cheers,

James

The original hose did actually reduce in size...you occasionally find the part on U.S ebay.

But best to have a plumber friend make you up a T-piece out of copper with different end sizes.

or you can "temporarily" dodge-up 2 diff hose pieces where the smaller feeds into the larger and clamped together.

Try after market car parts place like Auto1, I used a Ford heater hose which had a large diameter one end and a smaller diameter the other end ...perfect!!

Thanks guys. Ive tried a couple of places like Repco and Autobarn with no luck. I just had a look Lynton, and there aren't any Auto1 stores in SA!! I have a mate that can probably source me a block of brass, which ill just have to get machined down myself, then get the two different hoses for each end. A little more time consuming than I had hoped, but should get the job done.

Sometimes I find good pieces at a "Enzed" hose and fittings place. they sell brass "T" pieces that replace your corroded one. They may have hose adapters going from one size to another. Worth a look!

I had the same problem.I got a some hose that was really tight on the large pipe and heated it up slipped it on apply a hose clamp and at the other end put on two hose clamp and extended the pipe an extra two or three inch's. It has worked ever since. May not the best way to fix it but it works

Well, problem is fixed. A mate of mine who works at a mechanics machined down a piece of brass to go from 20mm to 14mm, so i just went and bought two hoses to suit from repco. Was gonna hit up enzed if my mate didnt come through with anything.

Does it have to be OEM specs....why not remove what you have and replace it something a generic size right through....

I didnt "need" to stay OEM but unless i wanted to make hard work of it, it was easier just to find a way to go from 20 to 14mm.

cheers for the help everyone  :)
