Sirpent
An interesting thread on FB there were 4 Phase 4 XA GTHO’s built by Ford’s skunk works, they were known as the Lot 6 cars. It seems one that was written off had its Phase 4 351’s dropped into a “Datsun” Could it have been a most likely candidate into a Z registration number IPQ-686 with a vague reference to P 137308 Any thoughts? If a Zed, it’s priceless if it still exists
Administrators gav240z Posted August 29 Administrators Share Posted August 29 Not sure it was a 240z registration might be too early for a 70 model if that's Victorian rego no.? Could it have been a Datsun sedan?
gilltech
But under Type of Vehicle - date - it says 09/11/1978. Would a 351 even fit in a Z? Bit tall I'd have thought. If the story has some truth then maybe the motor was eventually used to re-power one of the larger Nissan sedans such as a 240/260/280C, to replace an I6 with the V8. There might be a clue there in the chassis code quoted, as in the '137' of the P 137308 ?

As for the date on the certificate that’s the year the engine swap took place. The reg is circa 75/76 if a Vic plate, mine was first registered May 1975 with reg IEG-380 To me it seems to point to a Zed granted the P137….. reference confuses matters, then again, imagine if it’s still out there running a Phase 4 works motor……..Priceless
