Zeddophile Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 just searched trying to find the years the suspension was changed, and VicZcar came up at number 10.... not bad! Quote
Azon Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 just searched trying to find the years the suspension was changed' date=' and VicZcar came up at number 10.... not bad![/quote'] Thats partly because you search from Australia nad google slightly adjusts the search results to your location. Still a good result for VicZcar. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted April 12, 2006 Administrators Posted April 12, 2006 Actually that's not correct. unfortunately since we are hosted in the US and our domain is a .com we do not appear in sites from Australia under google or msn. Yahoo doesn't require either of those so we appear in pages from Australia. Actually it's funny we got a good result like that because google recently dropped a whole lot of pages that were cached mainly because of some changes to the site. However I've recently made some changes to the site and the new forums will be under http://www.viczcar.com/forums/ if you arn't logged into the site you will see that the forums are now static pages ie forum-12.html instead of viewtopic.php?t=22 etc etc.. I've also made some other nifty changes that will hopefully increase our visibility over the next few months. Stay tuned Quote
Azon Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Ah ok, I didnt know that we are hosted in US then its a great result for VicZcar to be where it is in search results. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted April 12, 2006 Administrators Posted April 12, 2006 Yeah we are hosted overseas simply because of the cost factor. Right now the club is funded by Sulio and I although technically Sulio has been paying the bills. (But I gave you a choke cable if your reading  ). I also do all the development work and manage the site. I have thought about buying a domain name like viczar.com.au and doing a redirect so that we get results in Australia however our name has kinda stuck. To buy a .com.au is also expensive well not too expensive but more than a .com auda who regulate domain registrations in Australia also require that we register as a company(additonal costs) or we can be a not for profit organisation in which case we would be an .org.au not as appealing. For now the goal is to conquest google. Yahoo and MSN are sort of taken care of for Datsun 240z and Datsun 260z and other variations(too many to list). The new changes I have been slowly making behind the scenes will also help alot I think. This is one of the main reasons all the othe changes have been taking so long. All this is done when I can be bothered and when im not busy and when I can be bothered to think about the problem at hand. Anyway enough ramblings I just hope everyone enjoys the site and it helps them with their projects and people give me money to finish mine off  Quote
warrenz Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 Hi I did not realise the club had to pay for the hosting, I thought we were still managing some free hosting deal as it was in the beginning (I thought). Is it time to look at some voluntary membrship fee similar to Z Car Club in the US or some fundraising ? I have an idea, in late 2004 I purchased a 2004 calender from Calenders.com in the US that was all Z Cars. I thought it was great and if they had produced a 2006 version I would have bought another one. We have some great cars and some good photographers, if we could get a reasonable print deal I am sure we could sell them, even back to US Z car owners. I am prepared to do the leg work or a feasibilty study to see what we would have to sell them at to make a profit. Get it out round October for xmas period. What do you think ? Warren Quote
Toecutter Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 I think that sounds like a great idea Warren. It could be quite fun too. Some nice pics with perhaps a little bit of info on the car in the pic located somewhere on the calender, ie year of the car, perhaps a short speil on the resto etc!?? Ooooh another rationalisation for me to buy a new digital SLR! Sulio Quote
