I'm  looking into bulk importing some coilover sleeve kits.

They are 150mm long and have a 51mm ID. For use with 2 1/4 ID springs.

Should be  $270 for a set of 4 (1 per strut) or $150 for 2. Depending on numbers, the more ordered the cheap they are.

The c spanner is seperate and would be $15.

Im getting these for my 240z, and found sleeve kits in Australia a bit rich. .Quadrant Suspensions quoted me $650 for a set of 4 -noltec brand are cheaper, about $220-300 for 2.There are cheap ones on ebay but they are apparently crap.

Here is a  basic coilover how to: but uses cheaper sleeves :) Also Im fairly sure that these sleeves are steel and can be welded directly onto the strut

So you still need to buy springs ,which can be found at any suspension shop, and coilover springs come in any rate you need. Ive bought 240 pound/ 10 inch long ones for my street car.

And new strut tops- unless you mod the standard top like the guy in the link.

Im still trying to source  adjustable strut tops that arnt stupidly priced.

I spoke to a guy at a local suspension shop - he uses noltec ones and MIG welds them on the struts.. but some say it needs to be TIG welded.

Benefits of  coilovers? Adjustable height , huge range of spring rates and lengths, more room for bigger wheels/ tyres(with correct offset).

Please check if legal in your state, you may need a mod plate.

Anyway let me know if anyone is  interested it would be about 3 weeks to get them into Australia but id need numbers first.

Will not fit 260z's as they use bigger struts

I was looking at having them made up locally, but the cost was still going to be too expensive.

FWIW DatSport in SA sell kits for around $200/pair.

It will be cheaper to find the sleeves etc locally and there are places that have them.  I dont regret doing it, but its not cheap at all to pay someone to get it right as it has to be straight, cut to the right length, welded properly etc.  Not cheap at all.

I bought two 51mm id sleeves from Toperformance in Vermont for about $49 each but without the nuts and top hat and a metal fabrication place across the road from my workplace charged me $200 to cut, remove 35mm of strut tubing, join and weld on the threaded portion on just 2 struts.

I'll be getting my sleeve kit, springs and shocks for the 260 from Express Engineering (at mate's rates).  His main supplier of the kits was all spares (I think!) and they went belly up so he's had to find a new wholesaler for ones who have an all steel kit.  I only have a mig and I hear aluminium sleeve kits bind up from oxidisation over time due to the tight tolerences if left for a period of time (don't quote me on that).

I thought $270 was very cheap for four steel sleeves nuts , locks and caps.

Hey Neuby, what are you doing for the strut tops?? Im still tring to suss these out.

ZEDMAN240  -  Thanks for that pic - thats a nice set of struts. Are you going to use mr2 inserts or something else?

They are already in the car with shortened Koni Red's. If you know anyone with a lathe, I think you could make your own top hats out of some alloy. Simple by the look of them.

Yeh thats pretty good.  The installation is expensive though.  And I imagine the caps are just generic caps for any car, not for zeds, which means yeh, more fabrication.

MIG welder is fine!

Most of them are alluminium - you weld on a little bung and the threaded collar sits over the top of that,

Thats how these ones work,

http://www.ground-control-store.com/index.php & http://www.technotoytuning.com,

TechnoToy sell GG gear, but there customer service is excellent!

But it is all pretty straightforward stuff - cut of the spring perch, weld on the bung at a certain height (which TTT will give you) put on the collar, re-install into the car,

Can even retain your stock rubber insulators if you like,

The kit with spring hats from memory is about $500 US and something like $45US shipping,

Grab some Z31 KYB 300zx inserts and some 150-170lb springs and your away!

They are a 56mm OD tube, TTT, Ground-Control, Modern Motorsports, ArizonaZcar will all be able to help you out with that - just tell them you have a 280z!
