  1. Stripping the car guys. Sump with Pickup - $350 - Geniune Nissan Items. Black Dash, complete with basically everything that bolts into it, including the cluster and harness - $350. Anyone interested in the rest of the car, come and grab it for $300 - sitting in the driveway ready to go :-)! Shipping the Sump should be fairly easy and cheap - but the dash is pretty heavy and would probably cost a bit to ship, happy to do it at buyers expense, but certaintly be a lot cheaper to pick it up in person. Cheers Tony 0403 836 526
  2. Sure, but see how it goes selling complete first.....................really don't want to wreck the car piece by piece :-)!
  3. Hey Guys, Getting rid of the 280zx now - I was bored one afternoon and wanted to see how easily the RB30 would fit inside the 280zx..................quite easily as it turns out. Used a combination of R31 and R32 engine mounts (From Memory) and in it went. This was the engine that I used in my 260z as a Turbo Motor (Just a S2 RB30 that I slapped a turbo on the side off)....................I never did anything more than just slap it in the 280zx though, so nothing is connected. But it does come with a modified RB30 wiring harness which should make it a fairly straight forward conversion for wiring. When I last ran the motor I did a comp test and it came back with about 145psi across all cylinders - so should still be in good condition. Best bit................on the RB30 there is a geniune Nissan RB20 R30 Rear Sump and Oil Pick-Up, when I bought it from Nissan it set me back around $700 or so. Also, the Dash Pad in the 280zx is basically brand new, no cracks, rips or tears. Also, still connected to it is the RB30 R31 5spd Manual Gearbox. The car was kinda dismantled (Not by me) and left for a few years, so time to go - All interior bits and pieces are there, just need resembling. Car body is fairly reasonable - It does come with the original bonnet, front bumper bar and 2 front guards in good condition (ones on there now are stuffed). Car will have to be trailored away. Asking $1400 ono - If you have any questions give me a call - Tony 0403 836 526 Cheers
  4. And some more.................. Little bit of surface rust in there, but I will clean all the sh£t off before it is purchased. Can see fuel lines, 1" Patrol Master Cyliner and the mighty 1UZ - Had to take the Inlet Manifold off to get the wiring harness off for it to be modified, I haven't pulled the engine apart except for the accessaries and the inlet manifold. The bonnet DOES close and clear the stock Intake Manifold, but I had to remote mount the Oil Filter on the 1UZ, was a mix of clearing the crossmember and getting bonnet clearance, in the end it was much easier to remote mount the Oil Filter compared with figuring out how to modify the Inlet Manifold :-)! I purchased an Adapter from Bullet Cars in QLD for this, never got around to mounting it though, just bought the adapter and it is currently slapped on the side of the 1UZ block. Cheers Tony
  5. Thanks Fella's - to say the chassis is rigid now would be a bit of an understatement :-)! Shame to see the old girl go, but it has been sitting for over a year and prefer to see it go to a good home then sit forlornly in the driveway :-)! Started going through all the bits and pieces that I have for this car.......................Whoever collects this car will need a car trailor and a ute, lots of spare parts :-)! I took some pics today just so you get a picture of what it currently looks like - Rear wheels come with the car, front ones do not - I will supply two other wheels, which are the same as the rears with the sale - They are a 40p offset and run 25mm bolt on style spacers - Which will also come with the car. I have a front spoiler, grill, 2 sets of bumper bars aswell - Everything (well almost) needed to slap this thing back together - Just lots of stuff not on the car at the moment :-)! I have a perfect dash that comes with the car..................................but I also whipped up this, basically a mould for making a Fibreglass copy, it comes with the car aswell. Also, a while ago it was an RB30ET 260z - I modified the Fuel Tank so it had an In-Tank FI fuel pump and I have whipped up a set of Bundy-Steel Fuel Lines, so that part of the conversion is pretty much sorted. Cheers Tony
  6. Hey Guys, Time to get rid of the Z, has been sitting for over year and no further work has been completed so time to go! There was quite a bit of Rust and other nasties in the floor pans and looked as if it had been in a frontal accident - so I went berserk and put some new sheet metal in there :-) Can see it's progress here................ http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/73107-new-floor-pans-and-frame-rails/page__st__60 There is a few incarnations of the Engine/Gearbox and Front Suspension setup that I went through - but I work with Engineers and got some good advice and finally came up with something strong for the front crossmember. It is setup for the 1UZ, Subaru PS Rack and runs a mix of S7 RX7 front suspension with adjustable coilovers, brakes from an AU with Calipers from an R32 Skyline. Rear Suspension is stock with an R200. At the moment it rolls, not drives, so has to be trailored away - It comes with all stock interior (Including flawless Dash), piles and piles of spare parts like Whale Tale spoiler, bonnets, super wide front guards, spare 280z (later 260z front and rear struts), spare front windscreen and a whole bunch of other crap lying around that needs to go too :-). I am asking $2000 ono I am also looking to get rid of the 1UZ motor and gearbox as well, had Sideshow Bob modify the harness so it is more or less a plug and play loom needing about 5-6 wires to be connected to a stock harness from memory. The engine is complete and in good condition, I pulled it from a Soarer with 142k's on it, has all accessaries and 3 Auto gearboxs (Crown's and Soarer Auto's) and I am after $2000 for that as well - Figured that people would probably just be after the Z here, not the 1UZ with the Z.................... But happy to sell them together, saves me pulling the 1UZ out of the car. Can contact me on 0403 836 526. Cheers Tony
  7. Here is the cardomain page for "450z" - the mounting of the VH45 was, um, elaborate :-)! http://www.cardomain.com/ride/563982
  8. Thats a very good price! I have also been quoted ridiculous amounts to reco a 3-cored 280zx radiator! http://cgi.ebay.com.au/HOLDEN-RODEO-TF-PETROL-99-02-AUTO-NEW-RADIATOR-CR1990A_W0QQitemZ270236787938QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Car_Parts_Accessories?_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116#ebayphotohosting This is the Rodeo Radiator - for an off-the-shelf item, it is a good fit - bit tall, but still fits and its cheap :-)!
  9. Nah, like to be able to drive cars in traffic or know its going to start each time I go to kick it over :-)! Hehehehe, love Datsun's! also love Fords, love all cars - you have seen that massive white ZF Fairlane in the driveway - thats next, front and rear suspension from a Z32 and 2jztt!
  10. Most of us, probably haven't ever driven a Ferrari to compare......... For its time, 120y is a damm good car :-)! Holden's aren't Aussie either really, when I was in Europe it was the strangest thing seeing mini VP commodores driving around the place - until recently, since it's inception, the Commondore has been Opel bodies powered by Buick V6's from the 70's! Now its Korean bodies with Yank V8's or (what the Add said) Aussie made v6! Yeah the guys at Mercedes really know how to make a straight 6 and the fellows at datsun sure know how to replicate someone else idea really well :-) By that rationale - does that mean all Merc engines are ok :-)? It's funny with Z owners, so keen on keeping the car all original - or in the family - for example, when I purchased my car the owner looked at me like I was lucifer himself when I suggested I would put in even an RB engine, I quickly changed track and said the paint was nice! Like this retard in Brisbane who stuck an S15 6 speed behind a VH45 because he had to keep it Nissan but wanted a 6-speed manual, that was interesting :-)! Now were is a 1969 240z so I can chop of the roof and install 3.8L Buick V6 :-)! I do love my Z though :-)! But I see it as more of a blank canvass - different suspension, brakes, engine, interior - mainly because it is a reasonably inexpensive car, which still looks awesome! But really isn't exactly like ripping apart something like a Ferrari Daytona, mainly because a Ferrari Daytona probably set you back a couple of hundred K, nicest of nice Z's probably isn't that expensive or rare! Hehehehehe, that used to be my reaction, but, there has been one sitting next to my 260z for about 6-7mths now, and the more I look at it the more I like it, its not that bad! and the back of the 2+2 versions really is much, much better done than the 260 2+2 rear "after-thought" a@s!
  11. Really? I thought the Z32 Radiator was about 650-660mm wide, making it to wide for the S30 engine bay? If you want a cheap radiator that will fit between your chassis rails that is alluminium and has plastic tanks, use a Radiator from a 1999-2002 Holden Rodeo, can grab them off EBAY for about $200 and are about 25-30mm thick with big single core, I used one in my RB30ET Z and it seemed to work quite well!
  12. Why? At the end of the day its a Datsun, it's not like you are hacking up a Ferrari Daytona and stuffing a Holden 5L V8 in it :-)!
  13. 2+2's go faster of course! But they are ugly as sin :-) If you get a 4 seater grab a 280zx, at least the back seats weren't an after thought :-)!!!
  14. Rotaries are great :-), most amazing HP figures for such a little engine - friends RX7 makes 440rwkw from a 1.3L, This should get you started :-)!!! http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=115039&highlight=rotary+engine & www.rotaryz.com
  15. This is what used to be in the Z! Was quick :-)!!!
  16. Fan from a late 80's Honda Civic bolts straight in and is quite the improvement apparently! Thanks Chris - It is slowly getting there, after I figure out the radiator support panel and re-make the crossmember I will get started on the body, yay bog :-)!!!
  17. Got anymore pics of his Subaru Rack mounts? looks like he used the stock crossmember and stood up the rack - good to see some more pics of the mounts he made!
  18. Yes, going to use the hubs from the RX7! I came across a fellow on Cardomain (450z) who did a similar thing to you, but in reverse I guess :-) - he used the RX7 lower control arms and modified the S4 tie-rod ends to suit the Z strut, My conversion, like his (I assume), was done because of the engine mounting issue - I didn't want to just slap a 2nd crossmember in there :-)! So had to find a solid LCA/TC Rod so I could create a K-frame type crossmember and it has gone from there, I was originally going to try and re-use the Z struts but gave up on that idea, seems like there is little point because lots more goodies available for the RX7 :-)!!! I am going to use some K1 adjustable struts, they have threaded collars and have adjustable threaded tubes, so you can move the entire strut up or down without effecting the spring/insert height, http://www.ksportusa.com/asp/coilovers_detail.asp?product_id=cd02 The dampers and springs will not be even close to suitable for anything other than drifting on a Japense race track, so I will use 8641 Koni's and Eibach springs, I should be able to retain the stock Z rubber insulators and avoid camber plates - these struts have camber adjustment on the strut anyways! Don't know about the brakes - the stock ones are a touch small, well in comparision to what I was planning on running - 324mm - but there is lot's of big brake kits avialable for the RX7 strut - I will have to wait and see, all depends on what I end up doing with the rears So - How did you install climate control :-)?
  19. Hehehehehe, that made me laugh :-)!!! Yes, I learn't how to weld and have been going nuts ever since!!! I haven't seen any of this stuff first hand, but lots of folks on Hybridz's have done this sort of thing, plus a fellow from Sweden (I think) who did a lot of this sort of stuff, if you guys have a spare moment, wonder over to Youtube and check out "240z Project Hugo" about 24 parts, now that is some serious fabrication!!! Think pretty much sorted now, just have to work out the Power Steering side of things - RX7 stuff should be good though!
  20. Yes, looks like someone is going to buy them! Just need to sell the tailshaft :-)!!! I have put some pics in the Introduction thread, made a little bit of progress!!! Would have been good for sure, thredo would have been a nice cool change at this time of year!!!
  21. Hey guys, thought I might post some pics of my Z and some of the work I have been doing on it lately, enjoy :-)!!! The engine crossmember has been modified so it no longer looks like this, but this is pretty much where the engine will sit in the engine bay! Nice home made rotisserie, made from 900kg engine stands, works great!!! Some of that, um, minor bodywork............... The new chassis rails and modified crossmember to suit RX7 S5 Lower Control Arms, the crossmember is just a prototype, but the plan was to make the engine easy to mount and the idea evolved into a one-piece LCA and TC Rod and was put onto a fellow in the states who installed a VH45 who appeared to have the same engine mounting issues as me, so I borrow his idea :-)!!! Installed in the car! & of course the best part, the bonnet, this I made earlier and is a touch wacky!!!
  22. Engine mounts and gearbox crossmember have been sold, The Tailshaft is still available!
  23. Come on people, buy my stuff :-)!
