zedevan Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 http://www.rustbullet.com/ I'm wondering if anyone has found a store in Melb who sells this? Or is it something that has to be ordered online? I was hoping to pick some up tomorrow. It seems like a good alternative to POR15, specially for those hard to reach places. Quote
Charlie Boy Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Hi Zedevan thought I would reply to your pm here. I bought my last lot directly from Rust Bullet in Sydney think it was $15 for delivery which is up to 3 cans worth. It is an expensive product here compared to the US but I think its quite a bit better than Por15. http://www.rustbullet.com.au/epages/whitelabel4.sf/?ObjectPath=/Shops/Dartec/Categories/2 C Quote
zedevan Posted January 13, 2009 Author Posted January 13, 2009 Hey Charlie, thanks for that. I actully went ahead and ordered some yesterday after hearing back from fufu that was the only option. Unfortunately they aren't processing orders till the 17th, so i'll just have to wait. -Evan Quote
V8Datto Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 What's wrong with POR15? or should I say, in what way is Rustbullet better? I've used POR15 before, spray and brush. I thought they were almost the same product. Quote
tbscobraZ Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 I think don't quote me but por15 needs to go onto an extremely clean surface. Also another option is http://www.kbs-coatings.com.au/ Quote
RaceBorn Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 I was reading up on Rustbullet on this forum as well as others, and from what I understand, one of the main advantages is the lack of post-application prep work that is needed before you paint. It's also easier to remove (apprently) when compared to other solutions like POR15. Quote
Zedback Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 I've used por15 without using 'marine clean' and 'metal ready' first with no problems, but I've also had problems when I haven't. In my experience it has depended on what the surface was exposed to before hand. Plain rusty metal (ie. inside of a panel) has come up well after a wire brushing to remove flakes. On the other hand, a rusty engine bay area with heavy exposure to brake fluid which I power wire brushed till it was bright and shiny... the whole area peeled off in one perfect big sheet Very interested to know more about peoples practical experience with rust bullet, never used it, and I have a lot of rust to deal with How does price compare, 1L of por just cost me $100. mossy Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Where did you get youe por15 from, I've found its actually cheaper to buy direct from por than a body shop, only $88lt. Quote
Zedback Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Yeah, specialist auto paint supply place. It was somewhere between $95 and $100, can't find the receipt. They are also the only place I know of that stocks the larger stripper discs. I haven't tried ordering direct, I will for the next tin. Quote

Funkysandwich Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 I think don't quote me but por15 needs to go onto an extremely clean surface. Also another option is http://www.kbs-coatings.com.au/ A friend of mine used KBS extensively on a Datsun Stanza build, and he said he wasn't that impressed with the results. Quote
