RBZ 260 Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Shannons quoted for full comp $650 for limited usage (3-4times a week) value of 16k (260z 2+2) without looking at the car and me telling them its still incomplete with the cheaper wheels. The guy was very helpfull and said to let them know when its all done for revaluation. though $650 seems bit high on the premiums but prob because its a higher risk car with quite a few mods. other insurance wouldnt even talk. some too old and only give you 3rd party others too modified. so yeah had to stick with shannons. PZG302 Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 All my cars except the new ute are with Shannons and have found them great, I stay with them because they are about the only company that can cope with me living in Qld but having a car in NSW. The service has always been great with any claims I have made sorted very quickly, and also offering the better shops to go to when I first moved up here and got rear ended in my old ZG Fairlane. The other company I would recommend would be Vigil. I had my first 260 2 seater insured with them. It was an ex rally car, so quite a few mods and they were competitive with price and service. Once the XR8 reaches three years old I will be changing it over to Shannons as the premium should be a lot better, as it is the top of car that isn't their bread and butter, the premium quoted was over $1000, but AAMI insure it for just over $600. There are some problems with AAMI's cover once it hits three years old, so the change will be made then to Shannons, which should also get me a discount because of the number of cars I have. Quote
Glen Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Im over insurance, i pay $551 for both my cars, $10,000 agreed on the Z and $9,000 agreed on the Landcruiser. But lets look at the finer details, im 35, have never had any of my cars stolen or broken into, my cars are always under cover, i've never claimed for my own car in a accident because i havent had to. I hardly ever drive my Z as a daily driver, i will be using it mostly on the track from now on where insurance becomes completely irrelevent, My landcruiser im not that fussed about scratches/dents. Its primary use is for work and 4wd. Its a big car, and the way cars are built today if someone ran into me at slow speed id hardly feel it. Also where i live it isnt exactly the city traffic down here. And to top all this off my mate has almost identical cars to me and pays half that amount through shannons, admitting he is 6-7 years older. Now shall we add up how much i have spent on insurance over the years, it would almost be enough to buy another car right now or a holiday! For what? so i can sleep easier at night saying yer....i'm fully insured. Monday im ringing up and finding the cheapest 3rd party insurance for both my cars. Quote
stevo_gj Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 For what? so i can sleep easier at night saying yer....i'm fully insured. I do sleep easier at night knowing that if my car gets stolen/written off that I can replace it, even if its my own fault! I pay just over a grand but I do it via monthly direct debits so its not so bad. My circumstances are different though since my car is currently my most expensive asset. Quote
