specifically the following

Replacement of an original engine with an

engine that was designed to meet more

stringent requirements is permitted provided

that the replacement engine is in its original

configuration including all emissions-related

devices or systems. For example you can

replace the engine of your 1987 VL Holden

Commodore with an engine made in 1997 for

a VS Commodore.

would make it seem as though, if you had the motor with the factory induction setup you wouldn't need an engineers? (although 3f could be argued i guess?) specially since in their example the engines are even of the same brand!

or is this just the EPA's point of view? and its the difference in power which means you need an engineers cert?

Well, after the Vic meeting we just had and some words exchanged, I think it's a whole lot cheaper to just get the engineers report with everything as it is. By the time I install the L24, buy some headers for it, new gaskets, modify the exhaust to fit, change fuel pumps re-install all the linkages and the other 20 things I can think of, I'll just save heaps of time and swearing in the shed and engineer it. Don't know what got into my head to part with it.......thanks all!

Good to hear, I didn't make sense to come that far and turn around again. I know because I was trying to think how I would buy it, but then I thought I have already collected all the hard to find bits for my L28 build and I should really just stick with the plan. Stuff the monies! :P

I think Zedevan, if the RB engines came in later model zeds and Nissan had approved the conversion it would be simple and no need for any reports. With Crummydores, they are almost all identical under the bonnet so engine swaps are easy. Nissan have approved the L28 engine conversion that's why you don't need a report for that swap.

Yeah Gavin, no point removing it all again for just that reason; avg price now for engineering is around $750-780. Looks like I'll just sit with the CH for a little more time..

Sorry to dig this subject up again but looks like I might have to part with this RB setup! At this moment I'm getting an L24 rebuilt and I'm going to need the funds for that. Its the matching engine # that's going back in (with a little extra work being done). Should see at least the same if not more Kw's at the wheels so it should be good. This sale would be for the engine, clutch + flywheel, 5 speed trans, triple weber manifold and engine mounts/sump. All up I'm hoping for $2100 ready to drop in. You can run Webers/Dellorto's on this manifold but need a MSD ignition controller to run the distributor-less ignition and coil pack.

I'll leave it here for about a week then its evilBay!

Hi, what power did you end up seeing and what other mods could be done to make a few more horses if you were to stay NA with the RB.

PS, i kept leaving that bloody box at home, i shall set a reminder this week for it.
