Woza01 Posted March 11, 2009 Author Posted March 11, 2009 Update, Hey All....Its a bit hard updating 2 threads with the same info, so go here (Hybridz) for the latest..... Warren http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?p=998495#post998495 Quote
Woza01 Posted March 22, 2009 Author Posted March 22, 2009 OK, its been a while since i gave you an updatre on this site - mostly Ive been on teh Hybridz Site. My sample cable arrived finally (for the second time) - This time he sent me the length I asked for, and was subsequently able to trim to suit. So, Im sending off that sample cable with everything trimmed to length to be completed (all ends properly crimped on etc), and I will place an order for a further 9 cables exactly the same. I will be doing this tomorrow. So I guess if I allow him a week to 10 days to complete the order, looks like I can start sending kits out to those who have paid (once they send the additional postage payment) on around the 1st April. I also went around to a friends house who owns a 2+2, got underneath and compared the cable with my coupe cable, and they are exactly the same, which is further good news - It means I dont have to produce a different cable for the 2+2 models. Ill get in touch with all those who have paid shortly - those who havent yet sent me their Full name and postal address, please do so as soon as possible to avoid any further delays. Thanks everyone for your patience ! Warren Quote
sco_aus Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Well, unfortunately due to money problems, I have to pull out. Thanks for your hard work and maybe in the future if you are still making these I will be able to afford it. Quote
Woza01 Posted March 23, 2009 Author Posted March 23, 2009 No worries mate - Sorry you are going to miss out this time, but there will be more available in teh future...so keep checking back Thanks Warren Quote
Woza01 Posted March 23, 2009 Author Posted March 23, 2009 Hey All, FIRST BATCH SOLD OUT - NO FURTHER PAYMENTS UNTILL FURTHER NOTICE......I will advise (soon) when the next Batch will start for any further interested parties. All 10 kits from the first batch are now accounted for. I expect the Handbrake cables to arrive from my supplier around the 1st April. All Buyers will hear from me individually regarding postage costs then. For all those Overseas Buyers (Hybridz) who managed to send their Payments through in Aussie Dollars (3 of you !!!), THANKS...for those who sent them through in US Dollars, Thanks also, but PLEASE make sure to send through Aussie dollars when you send the Postage amounts (to be advised based on your location)....ZZeal's post above has made a good point about the conversion rates...they fluctuate daily - therefore your US$ payment is decreasing everyday in value due to the Aussie dollars value rising...I have already lost $90 in total value from those who have paid in US$ ! Pretty basic stuff here folks. Sorry to be so podantic, however profits on this exercise are already low, so every further loss hurts and also may influence the viability of the whole exercise in the future.... Thanks again Warren Quote
RaceBorn Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Warren, I am keen to see how the first batch's buyers go with their install. Are you anticipating any photos and have you had any feedback on the kits you have sent already? Quote
Woza01 Posted March 24, 2009 Author Posted March 24, 2009 Hey... Other than Charlie Boys feedback earlier on in this post, no one else has teh kit (I sold him my prototype set)... Yes, I will be asking buyers to send pics and feedback once installed, and I will post it on my webiste, which I will be setting up shortly. There are pics already in My Gallery if you havent already seen them. Warren Quote
Charlie Boy Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Ok my car is in the uk and about to go for its road test with Woza's development kit. The test (MOT) includes a test on the hand brake function. They are apparently quite fussy and put the vehicle on a rolling road and test the braking force on rear wheels. They only allow a certain amount of distance that the hand brake leaver can move up and the garage that has prepped the car think that we might have to much movement. Hopefully it will be fine but we may have to come up with a way to reduce the hand brake movement for the test here. C Quote
Woza01 Posted March 25, 2009 Author Posted March 25, 2009 Hey C, good to hear from you. I too had this issue upon my first install. After fiddling around I found that its crucial that its setup correctly....the pads in the spot calipers had to be adjusted tight against the disk before the cable is connected, and then backed off ever so slightly to allow the disk to rotate without any dragging. The lock nut is then tightened and movement of the calipers' lever to apply the brake is minimal - the 2nd time I took it out for a test i couldnt get any more than 3 or 4 clicks of movement on the handbrake lever. - It was a vast difference from my first test. So, go through the process thouroughly again and you should get a better result. I will update this in a couple of days when my new cables arrive.... Thanks for the feedback Warren Quote
Charlie Boy Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Thanks Warren, I have passed on the info C Quote
Woza01 Posted April 6, 2009 Author Posted April 6, 2009 OK Z Lovers...Im ready to start taking orders for batch # 2. I learnt a few things while processing the first batch...a few things that were costly to me, so now with the benefit of hindsight, I can be a lot clearer for those who are interested in a kit. The following is directed at all you Aussie Zedders.....If you are in the US, please visit the thread on HYBRIDZ for info thats more relevant to you....here is the link to the applicable page... http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?p=1008705#post1008705 - Kit price is AU$500 - Payments by direct deposit - if you want to use Paypal, thats totally fine, however youll need to add in the 3.4% they charge for fees - Total of $518 - Your Payment remains in my account (PayPal or Bank) untill item has been posted (this is in case I need to refund for some reason) - Postage to most parts of Australia using stardard Aussie Post services is around $30 including Registration and $500 insurance - I am happy to accept any payment method to reduce or eliminate unwanted costs....im flexible. - I need a minimum of 10 orders to make the machining and cable manufacture process viable....I am happy to start the ball rolling after I have 8 orders. - Full Payment of the kit price ($518) confirms you as 1 of the 10 minimum. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Currently I have 2 confirmed orders..... Thanks everyone. Warren Perth, Western Australia Quote

Woza01 Posted May 12, 2009 Author Posted May 12, 2009 Hey all... I am taking orders for Batch # 2.....I am just wondering if any of you guys that put your name on the list for the first batch, are still interested..... These are the Aussie guys, there is a whole heap of HybridZ names also, but will contact them individually as well. I Currently have 3 Orders....I need at least 6 or 7 to Proceed with the manufacturing process, so if you are genuinely interested, then dont be shy, because its looking like this batch will be the last (due to lack of interest...) 1. sco_aus (tentative) 2. zedevan 3. Woza01 Posted May 22, 2009 Author Posted May 22, 2009 Hi Z Lovers ! This is simply pre-notice that I will be producing the last batch early next week. The Worlds financial problems have made everyone gone quiet, and because I have to produce these kits in batches of 10 to make them viable, its simply too difficult to offer them any longer. Obviously 1 offs can be done, but the cost would be more (not sure how much though), so if you are interested, the time is now. Obviously, if things improve in time and there seems to be enough interest, I will be happy to re-assess then. Please let me know if you are interested. Kit price is AU$500 excluding postage. Thanks ! Warren (Woza01) Quote
Woza01 Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 OK Guys...orders for batch No.2 are closed. Thanks to the few guys from here who have placed their orders - the rest are from Hybridz. I probably wont be doing another run on these, unless interest sunddenly spikes for some reason, as its simply too hard to get enough people together at once to make it viable...it sure has been fun though. I will have 2 sets spare from this batch that will go on ebay when I get them done.... Thanks to everyone who has shown interest.... Warren Quote
Woza01 Posted June 16, 2009 Author Posted June 16, 2009 Guys, Im ready to post out your kits in the next few days....if you havent already sent off your postage payment (most of you have !), then please send it asap. Also, please get back to me anyway to confirm your postal addresses... thanks Warren Quote
Woza01 Posted June 19, 2009 Author Posted June 19, 2009 Hi Batch No. 2'ers ! Your kits are all boxed up securely, and will be posted off tomorrow morning (20th June)..... I would very much appreciate it if you could let me know when your parcel arrives safely ! Thanks again everyone... Warren Quote

fufu Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 my kit arrived today. Now it shall go into storage until the day i decide to do it. Quote
zedevan Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 ^^^ same, it looks the goods, and hopefully the dust on it doesn't get to thick on it before it gets used! Quote
fufu Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 How crap is 'a large company who sell zed modifications' (can't be named for forum policies)? Debateable! They've decided to release a rear-handbrake caliper. I wonder what sparked them to do that. This angers me because I asked them about a few years ago whether or not the stock handbrake would be useable. They replied back saying that no one would use it in such a high end braking system. Instead they'd use the proportion vale. I advised them that I'd like the simplicity of using the stock handbrake but they denied the availability or even future prospects of having such an option. Which is why I loved it when woza released his plates. Woza I'm afraid they are stealing your product now with their new release of their e-brake caliper set. They will also be redesigning their products, accross their strut kit line, for this feature. I'm sure many others will also be angered by this new 'large company that sells zed modifications' strategy. Woza has put countless hours and effort into creating this fantastic product. It is sad to see that a large company like 'large company that sells zed modifications', who had the power for many years to design a stock e-brake solution, to wait until someone else did it and then quite literally just copied it just when the market demand had increased. It angers me further that I'm sure 'large company that sells zed modifications' had a lot of requests like mine for stock ebrake feature, however that didn't sway them to push it. The demand had already existed is my point. It's a complex tale of David vs Goliath but evidently we all know in this case it will be Goliath that would win because of its prestige, name and influence in the field. For shame 'large company that sells zed modifications'. Quote
xa1973 Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Sad, but true.......... Then again that's what Patents are for ...... The protection of intellectual / designs / property's Quote
Woza01 Posted March 25, 2010 Author Posted March 25, 2010 I looked into patents, and its a minefield...to truly cover the design it would break me financially - Anyway thats life.....to be honest Im not too fussed, as it was never about the money anyway....if I factored in the time invested in development, then production of the few batches,it would be classed as a dead loss anyway lol. I just wanted a handbrake that worked, and wante to help others. So, thanks fufu for your support. I too know the frustration you feel because i know that its been a question asked of the other mob a million times. Id like to think that perhaps my kit had something to do with them finally deciding to produce their own kit, but in the real world, it probably didnt ! lol Anyway, we move on.... My car has progressed well - i hopefully pick it up from the performance shop tsaturday. Anyone thats interested cam see a few vids at various stages of development on YouTube.
