Administrators gav240z Posted June 4, 2018 Administrators Posted June 4, 2018 Hey Guys, This question probably got lost in amongst the other stuff going on in this thread. Q. Is the profile of the lower half of a 2+2 1/4 panel the same as a 2 seater in the fuel filler area? 260z 2+2 I am guessing they are the same profile, but not 100% sure? Here is the area on my 240z I'm wanting to repair. I could probably fabricate it, but an off cut will be much easier. Quote
gilltech Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 Hard to say without overlaying one over the other. The 2+2 fuel door is a different shape, and the filler pipe securing system is different, compared to my 260 2-seat I know that. You really need to measure up the internal layout behind the door. Retro Z Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 It fits Gav. I chopped a 2+2 section and welded it in. Bardan (import monky) now has the car. In relation to Gilltechs comment its only different if you use 1975+ where the recirc chamber was fitted. The 1974 models have same gauge steel and fuel door as the 240z. Later ones didnt. gav240z 1 Quote
gilltech Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 Well given that the 2+2 didn't launch until late '74 I guess that means that the vast majority of the 260s are different. Depends how much re-shaping you're happy to do I guess. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted June 5, 2018 Author Administrators Posted June 5, 2018 Just looking for a lazy way out of fabricating that section if possible.I have a spare fuel filler section I got off Ashley ages ago, but the other quarter panel shape is what I need. However it could be fabricated. Quote
