zr240 Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 I think these kits are a little dodge as the way the threaded section is held onto the sturt is not very safe. Would be interested to see a set on a car to seee how good the stay in place. Could be being over cautious but I thought the only safe way is to weld the threadded part on not use grub screws:) Ash Quote
C.A.R. Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 I agree with Ash. Real safety issue with the Alum. threaded collars... Quote
ol_skl_jp Posted April 29, 2008 Author Posted April 29, 2008 I understand how the grub screws would be a problem but i dont understand why the T6061 aluminium would be an issue. Quote
mossy Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 I reckon that would cost $30-$40 to post. I get tired of getting overcharged for shipping, they charge you an arm and a leg then you get the package and the sticker shows what they paid. Anyway enough ranting, I'm about to order a set of ground control coilovers fron Techno Toy-$399, shipping under $40 Quote
C.A.R. Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Sach, I guess it's just the 'Metal Worker' in me I don't like the idea of an Alum. sleeve on a steel strut I'm sure the Alum. if more then up to the task, but having it secured with grub screws... eeek! IMHO, welding on a ring for the sleeve to sit on would be preferable. Quote
