Andrew_L26 Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Hi all, I'm currently turboing my F54/P90A L28 using mostly L20ET parts, the sump from an L20ET is a rear sump and therefore requires a rear sump pickup. I haven't been able to source one so I decided to modify my current pickup. My concern is that I'm not exactly sure how far below the dipstick the oil pickup should go. Too far and I'm worrying that it will pick up any filth at the bottom of the pan. To shallow and it will starve for oil around corners/if the oil runs a little low. This is what I have mocked up at the moment (obviously going to weld it when the positioning is correct) Cheers, Andrew Quote
Riceburner Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 This is off a spare L28 of mine, is it the correct type? Quote
44014 Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 You want it as close to the bottom as possible while allowing sufficient gap for the oil to flow. There shouldn't be any filth in the engine what so ever?? Quote
KatoKid Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Canton, who make all sorts of custom sumps and pick ups recommend 5/16-3/8 inch for most sumps https://www.cantonracingproducts.com/TechPages/Oil_Pan_Accessories_Tech.html Quote
Andrew_L26 Posted June 19, 2017 Author Posted June 19, 2017 This is off a spare L28 of mine, is it the correct type? Looks pretty close! Is it off a rear sump motor? Cheers, Andrew Quote
Riceburner Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Was off an N42/N42 L28 I bought, was told it was from a ZX. I'll have the sump laying around somewhere too, there of no use to me, so all yours if you want (free). PM me. Quote
