Kirby Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 Hey Guys, I have a 76' 2-seater. When I purchased the car the PO had filled the bumper holes with bog and painted over for a bumper delete. For the resto this was all removed at returned to factory. Are there any differences in bumper that I need to be aware of between a 240z, 260z and 2+2? Thanks Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted May 12, 2017 Administrators Posted May 12, 2017 2+2 bumpers are wider than 2 seater. Also 260z 2 seater bumpers appear to use different mounting brackets but the bumpers look to be the same otherwise. Finding 2 seater bumpers is getting harder. Quote
Retro Z Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 Bumpers are the same on the 240z and 260z 2 seaters. Mounting brackets are different. 260z has the holes configured diagonally. While the 240z the mounting holes are horizontal (side by side) Quote
gilltech Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 Did your Aus-new Zeds - 240 and/or 260 - come with the tow hooks or tie-downs on the rear bumper brackets? Quote
Kirby Posted May 18, 2017 Author Posted May 18, 2017 Ok so I thought someone posted a length here, but now the post is missing? Anyway this is the bumper I've found, any one care to compare with their 2 seater or 2+2 and let me know? I've never seen side brackets like this before, can anyone show me the piece that attaches to the body? Thanks Guys, Quote
gilltech Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 (edited) Yes I measured up my 260 2-seat for you and posted it but the post has since disappeared. I'm away from where my car is at present so can't immediately re-measure, but IIRC I measured 1210mm the exposed length of the centre section between the (over-lapping) end caps same as you have, & I measured along the leading (front) edge closest to the car. Take that measurement as approx because there is some built-in tolerance in the bolt holes where the sections join together. I can confirm that dimension later. Also, the end cap fixing brackets which bolt to the side of the body are different to the one in your photos, being right angled to accept a single bolt passing through from inside the rear guard. From your photos I think you have a 2+2 bumper there? In any case offer it up to your car and you will soon see! Edited May 19, 2017 by gilltech Quote

Lynton Perkins Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 Hi All While on the topic of bumpers , can anybody tell me the difference between a coupe and 2+2 260z Front Bumper . Year 1975 if that makes a difference . Is there a difference . Rgds Lynton Perkins Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted December 17, 2018 Administrators Posted December 17, 2018 All S30Z bumpers in Australia are the same (front), the only difference is the 2+2 (wider) on the rear. Unlike North American market cars we didn't have regulation that stipulated big bumpers and so there was no changes to our bumpers over the years. There is however sound mounting point difference between 260z/240z rear bumpers (brackets), but I'm pretty sure they can be swapped out. Quote
Lynton Perkins Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 Thanks gav240z for the reply . I always thought 240z/260z front bumpers were the same . Reason i'm asking is i'm sick of reproduction bumpers looking good for 6 months and then becoming pitted with rust spots , They were/are expensive enough without having to get re -chrome ,so was looking for stainless steel one (front only also) . I've come across some in the states as well as Vietnam , but they say 240z/260z coupe won't fit 2+2 and they have a different one for the 2+2 (again front) unless they are having a lend of me . I now realize the rears are different , i have also seen rear 260z late and early models different (some are recessed in on later models where as the early ones are flush with panel Not that i want rear anyway . Now i am completely confused and it's to much money to spend on the wrong one . Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted December 19, 2018 Administrators Posted December 19, 2018 I re-chromed my originals via a company in Australia. I have heard of similar challenges with aftermarket/reproduction items rusting again..due to poor quality chrome etc.. Quote
gilltech Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 Well quite frankly Nissan's original chrome work was nothing to write home about, very thin & definitely very much low budget. A fresh re-chrome by a competent shop is an improvement over original. gav240z 1 Quote
