What Is The Vynil Material For 240 Headliner?

it seems to be very thin platic with small holes, not standrd seat type heavy vynil?

the trimmer didnt have anyhting like that and said that there's similar ford material, but with larger holes.

Its smooth vinyl with foam backing. No holes.

Someone on here posted a topic showing a replacement material they found. I can't recall who it was now.

That would be me !!  I did mine with a vinyl I got from the local trim shop, from memory I used 10mm foam backing .

and it worked ok? it look like the textured material they use for seat.

what the trimmer explained to me is that it comes with or with the fabric at the back. if you flip over the seat vynil, you will see the weaving at the back

what type is the foam? open cell/closed cell, density, etc?

The vinyl does have a weaved material on the back, so I guess it probably is the same vinyl you would use on a seat. The foam was just what he had in stock , don't know what type density etc, it was just close enough to the thickness I wanted, so I just used it !!  does seem to be relatively soft, so not a high density I am thinking. I also used the vinyl on the interior cover that goes on the inside of the tailgate, and it looked good there as well.

how thick is the foam? did you use the same material for inside roof pillar?

10 mm thick, I used it everywhere because I couldn't get any 6mm for the winscreen pillars  !!

i thought that and the bit above the door is glued directly to metal? original?

for the pillar vynil, is it meant to wrap around the panel join, with the rubber seal going over the top? or do i jut cut it short?

Wrap around the panel join in both pillars and windscreen/roof. Rubber seals then go over.

 

The roof frame section then has a rubber pinch trim that goes around the circumference and retains the vinyl.

do the strut tops have a cardboard template or is the vynil just stretched tight?

i had to remake the cardboard around the strut props

Cardboard triangle that fills in the void of the strut tower and diagonal beam. Vinyl then goes over the top.
