dat2kman Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 Plenty of NSW and Qld'ers know this guy and his new shop. He recently picked up a Z31 for parting out They are hosting a Qld "DatNats" day, for all the many people from Qld, that wont he going to Sydney for the Datnats! Quote
260DET Posted April 8, 2017 Author Posted April 8, 2017 Yes, very good Jason, as usual Actually the contact was posted for those who are not aware of this business, not those who are, although a contact point was given to maybe help everyone. Useful info like what this shop does and stocks I'm sure would be of interest to many. Quote
dat2kman Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 They are not into the esoteric world of the Z! More the high turnover high demand smaller Datsun market, that has a much wider International following. He gets a lot of NOS, and is certainly making a lot of related contacts. Quote
gilltech Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Generally the focus seems to be on old Datto sedans, utes and wagons; 1200, 120Y, 1600, 180B, 200B etc. Lots of die-cast models, old workshop manuals; some old stock parts for the 1200s etc as listed on Facebook. I did find some useful bits and pieces at their All Jap Day stall; very nice people to deal with. Quote
Bonkers Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 I will make the trip over to the north side and take in some datto atmosphere Friday afternoon. Quote
zed74 Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Hey Aubrey, Glad to hear at the last zed meeting you escaped any major flooding at your place.. Shame you couldn't make the autobarn meeting...I had forgotten just how large that shop was! Quote
Bonkers Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 Another 200mm and it would be a different story and now the sweet smell of drying river mud. I was lucky but others on this forum were not so. See if I can make the Lofty thing. Having him at this friday thing would be a draw card for the owners or May be some other time . Quote
Bonkers Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Well a very good afternoon . I was the lone zed at the meeting but every one was very welcoming. There was a strong focus on the 1200 ute and 120y cars. In all most early Datsuns were represented . This company is just starting out and does not have a lot of stock parts to cover all Datsuns, but he is willing to try and hunt down what you may be looking for. I was great full that he had a door lock in stock as I have been hunting one for some 20 years now and search now over. He may also be open to swaps depending on individual requests. Organizing the odd event for customers may not be out of the question as well. Something like happy laps (breakfast and 1/2 hour track time=$35 per person last time I checked) at Lakeside or QR raceway. Quote
gilltech Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 (edited) Ah so that's your car Bonkers... I saw photos of it on the shop's Facebook page. Very nice, colour 110, same as mine. Are you able to get the door lock you got off Chris (new or used?) keyed to match the rest of your car? Edited April 15, 2017 by gilltech Quote
Bonkers Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Yeh Chris is one of the good guys Gilltech .He had I think his son digging around for about an hour to find a good second hand door lock for me. But I did say it didn't need a key. As for the colour of the car . I walked into Autobarn in Moss Street. Handed them the petrol cover and said can you match that. They really went to some effort mixing it as the number 110 meant nothing to them. So I only have 750ml spare if I damage anything. Was a good day Richard, that pile of your's would had drawn some attention Quote
gilltech Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 (edited) Yes Chris and his family are nice people to deal with. I hope the parts shop venture goes well for them, they will be dependent on finding a steady source of parts and parts cars. Even if their focus is mainly on 1200s, 1600s, 120Ys, 180Bs etc as it seems to be, the few Zed bits they do turn up can only help us lot out. #110 is a regular Nissan colour from back in the day. You can buy it from a supplier on eBay. I'm using some in a pre-mixed spray can at the moment to do some simple touch-ups while I have my front panels removed for a general clean, as it's not worth the trouble of mixing up gun-loads given that I'm likely to take several weeks to get this done. While the rest of the car is old exterior paint and appropriately faded, what's 'behind the scenes' is still the original hue and so this paint seems to match well, not that anyone will probably ever see it anyway. 260DET Posted April 18, 2017 Author Posted April 18, 2017 Yeh getting stock at a reasonable price will be a problem, they almost need to be able to make or get made items like panels and rust repair sections, maybe some nice fibreglass stuff. Good to know that they are a reputable business, that's what I was originally wondering about. Quote
