Gyzmo Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 I will be fitting a hemi V8 into my 260Z. I am looking for a straight front end, not the whole shell, in reasonable condition (no accident damage) that I can use to experiment with engine position, strut tower clearances, etc. I am located in Sydney and will arrange my own trailer but will need some help to lift into the trailer... Happy to travel to Central Coast, Blue Mtns, Wollongong, Southern Highlands Does anyone have one they are willing to part with for a reasonable price? Quote
KatoKid Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 Current Hemi I assume, not old 392 or 426 based Hemi? Quote
KatoKid Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 Ok....the old carby ones? I assume the V8 desire combined with NCOP restrictions drove this choice? Quote
Gyzmo Posted February 9, 2017 Author Posted February 9, 2017 Later models were fuel injected... Also the engine weight. When I started the project Lexus V8s were very expensive. And I can't force induce a lexus motor and remain legal within the capacity requirements. Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted February 9, 2017 Moderators Posted February 9, 2017 Gidday I hope you manage to find a front cut and eventually get this build on the road. I for one will be following with much interest. Cheers PB Quote
Gyzmo Posted March 5, 2017 Author Posted March 5, 2017 I purchases a half cut last week-end.I no longer require a response to this topic.... Quote

Gyzmo Posted March 5, 2017 Author Posted March 5, 2017 I will eventually... At present I'm resolving how I will legally fit the very ordinary Z-Power Steering kit to my 2+2. When I say ordinary I mean there are multiple welds at various locations in the column and the collpsible section is at the bottom of the column and not the top end. I have been in contact with a certification engineer who has given me pointers regarding steering column collapse and what I need to do to get it to work in my Z... I have stated previously that the Z-Power Steering kit is not road legal here I double it complies with the American equivalent to our ADSRs and VSBs... I will show why in due course... Quote

Interested in the z power steering commentary - had one of their kits sitting on the shelf for about 2 years waiting until I've got enough stuff I want to do to talk to an engineer Quote
