Fibreglass headlight buckets????

Hey, first post here, been lurking for a little while.

 

Just got some Fg guards from Alfa Motorsports (awesome quality product), any one know where i can locate a supplier of FG headlight buckets?? Been looking around but only really found talk of them.

 

would prefer to stay in Oz, but will buy from overseas if necesarry. Hey, maybe even someone has a set they wanna sell?

 

I want to join the buckets to the guards for that seamless look.

my 240z came with fiberglass headlight cones.not sure if aftermarket ones or of the early series 1. could be the factory ones as this 240z also has series one hatch and vertical demister. at some stage it was banged up and a series one gave life to this early 72.

 

i think a guy in SA has some moulds but he hasnt been active on the forum for a while.

Not sure if I'm right, but I think the early 240's came from the factory with fibreglass buckets. Might pay to scrounge around zed wreckers etc..

i found a guy on ebay that sells fibreglass headlight buckets.. not sure on the quality, as i havn't bought them yet..

 

his id is 0011hsv and he wanted $130 each for them. he also does bumper bars ($150ea), guards, front spoiler, flares etc.. but he didn't send me any pics unfortuantely

i ended getting some stock 240z glass ones, they are heavier than the metal ones, so maybe take that into consideration.

i wanted them so that,

1. i could blend with my guards.

2. they wouldnt dent.

3. they wouldnt rust.

4. my metal ones are mint, and will be boxed up and sold for a small fortune in 15 years when you fellas cant find straight buckets

out of curiosity.. if you blend them to your guards and the bulb goes, what happens?

You dont take the headlight buckets of to change a headlight........................

Yeah I looked at the seamless look and blending the two when I did my car. Problem is if you want to repaint the front parts with stone chips or dents in them. Then you have to paint both front guards as well. Not to mention the hassle of removing the whole front section as one including the two side guards at once. Nearly did it but being a G-nose and often getting stone chips on the front due to track work would have made touch ups on my car a real hassle and expensive.

oops, my bad i havn't taken my headlights out before, and just assumed that was the way

out of curiosity.. if you blend them to your guards and the bulb goes, what happens?

 

If your going to do the H4 conversion like i am, then you simply pop the cap off, and take the bulb out in the wheel well.

otherwise, you can remove the whole assembly out from the wheel well anyway.

 

yea, removing the whole guard is a bit of a pain, as it ideally needs a bit of flex to come off, and also be slid down off the nose of the bodywork under it.

btw, if i have stone chips that need painting properly, id be doing the whole guard anyway. (probably the whole front end, coz the chips would be everywhere)
