Interior colour

I'm wondering what interior to put into my stripped zed. I have a full set of creamish brown but have heard that black could be the go.

 

Any suggestions?

I think black goes well with all paint colors. What colour is the car?

The car is a freshly painted dark red or burgundy. And all of the interior parts that I have are a brownish colour.

I think it likely that your interior was originally a light cream, and is now dirty.... I'm keeping the cream interior in my zed, which may be a bit odd with a white exterior, but ah well. Seats will likely be black, as will carpet, so that should break it up nicely.

another option for yours (being a white zed) is the blue interior,

mine was a 71' white zed and had this metallicy blue interior, could look ok, have never seen one fully done properlky, mine now dyed black as car now blue.

p.s i reckon with a dark red/burghundy you can either go black (p/haps with highlighting on the edges for seats or something) or a lighter colour, i wouldn't go the burghundy.....but i've never been good with colors.

My car was actually red originally, I believe, and was resprayed white at some stage. Keeping it white because everyone has a red zed

 

That said though, does anyone have any photos of this blue interior colour? sounds interesting.

I've got the black dye to do the interior.

How did the dying go with yours?

Vynil paint or dye is ok for panels but I would'nt recommend it for seats. That would be a little tacky and it would come off once your ass hits the seat a few times.

JP240 just clean up the plastics with clean soapy water and let them dry thoroughly then paint. Be sure to let the first coat dry well before you apply the second. Do not try and complete the area with one coat seeing it will run, loose grain detail in the vynil and could even get ripples if it's real thick and the top drys quicker than the paint underneath.

i'd agree with toecutter there....

the dye comes out well on panels etc if you clean them thoroughly with soap and thinners, then let them dry.

as sulio said, do light coats, you can always put another on whereas curtains are a pain...(trust me i got a couple when i got lazy! (and had to fix them))

 

I wouldn't use it on any panels that will be used heavily (e.g for sitting in, etc.), and I'd be cautious using them on the soft vinlyl trim (use it on the plastic panels ((and if you can afford it, buy a brand new vinyl kit for the soft stuff and seats)).

 

 

I wish i had some photo's of the blue interior, i might go into the shed and get some shots of the soft stuff i took off. but not today (exams, gotta hate em)

I will make sure that I apply the dye in thin coats.

dunno if this is what you were asking for jp, but here's a quick shot...

was gettting all my parts out for assembly (yay!)

 

don't have any shots of the interior in a car, but i think one of either zcar.com or classiczcars had one about 6 months back (so impossible to find now without trawling through it all).
