Groundhog Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 (edited) The base of the magnet on my distribtuor was in several pieces when I pulled it apart. From the forum posts I can see that this is a fragile item.Does anyone have one with the base ring? This is the ring that goes under the magnet. Leads appreciated if these are still available new. [ /URL] Edited August 19, 2016 by Groundhog Quote
zeds4ever Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 (edited) G'day Eric , trying to fathom what part you mean . The magnet you show is fastened to a base plate then between that & a base plate fits a plastic unit which is attached to the rod to the vacuum advance diaphragm . The plastic part becomes brittle over the years thru heat/age & that's why it disintegrates when you dismantle the dizzy. I made one up for my dizzy from 2mm aluminium sheet & it works super fine . By the way from memory there was a magnet included in the parts I sent you before ?. Regards : Alan . Edited August 19, 2016 by zeds4ever Quote
Groundhog Posted August 19, 2016 Author Posted August 19, 2016 (edited) Alan Spot on about the part that you sent before. I am trying to build up two distributors out of all the parts I have. The A Magnet or top photo is the one I want. It's not just plastic as it is has ferrous material in it sticking it to the magnet with brass bushings around the screws. I hadn't considered making it out of aluminium sheet, so I'll do this for the second distributor. I have the other parts you mentioned and sent me but i still need the coil carrier and vacuum advance plate for the second distributor.I have one distributor from what you sent me in PC thanks to all the parts and the rebushing of the bearings. I remade a clamping plate for the advance out of SS from copying another distributor. The L26 std distributor mount and clamping plate are completely different. zeds4ever Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 (edited) Will have a look for you tomorrow mate , might have another spare somewhere . If you do make the plate up out of almnm it has to be slightly smaller in circumference than the two plates it fits between plus you need to cut out the section for the "Hall " system to work properly . I used three ball bearings from a push bike wheel for my rotating spacers & drilled quite a number of 1mm holes in the almnm plate to lighten it even more . It's a slow process but the finished product is well worth it as it will never stuff up . Regards : Alan . Edited August 19, 2016 by zeds4ever Quote
