What year is your 240z? Only the very early ones had an E31 - which are hard to find now. E88s are much more common and significantly cheaper to source.

You will want to switch to an internally oiled camshaft and remove the spray bar set up, unless you want to go absolutely 100% original? I am pretty pedantic about originality but I have my limits lol..

Lash pads, rocker arms can be resurfaced in most instances. So it's not critical.

My E31 head cost a packet to rebuild. More than most people would expect but I'm not skipping any corners here...It had some corrosion that needed repair and that is where additional expense came in, I also opted to regrind my cam to a mild 733a from Clive Cams. Which is about as big as you can go with twin SU's before they reach their limit...

Cheapest route is find a good N42 cylinder head and work from there (if originality is not an issue).

i have an L24 long block that i sourced from one of the guys in the forum ( top bloke) that i bought as a spare  and looks like i won't need it as my engine build is complete.

what's wrong with the spray bar? i have it on my E88

i also have an L28 with i think  N42, but i thought i would assemble an original unit. i also read that the L24 block has to be notched for a N42

also looking for a manifold ( i think e36?), which i think is unique to the 240z. 260 i think used a different unit

Yeah what is wrong with the spray bar? The early style ones seem to break quite easily but I have upgraded to a spray bar from the L28's which is much more solid in design
