Noticed there was a bit of talk about a Fairlady Z 432 for sale in Sydney(wont mention names!) and the price being asked.

I thought it a good idea to keep an eye on these gems and post up sales that happen around the world when we see them.

It would be an interesting read in my opinion.

There were about 420 of these cars ever made for the Jap market.

Here's an article covering the 432 in some detail;

Here's one I spotted earlier today:

Sold at Sotheby's auctions March 2015

1970 Datsun Fairlady Z 432

Chassis no PS30 00092

Sold at auction for $253,000 (US currency I presume)

Here's another that sold back in 2010 at Bingo Sports, a Japanese dealership for  Yen 8,800,000

We already have a thread dedicated to Global cars on the market. The last Z432 for sale was this Blue 1, which failed to generate as much money as the Silver 1 you described.

In part I think because it was modified (2.5L S20 motor), but also had a couple of other mod con's like Air Con fitted. Not sure if that's the full reason it didn't achieve the value of the Silver car but it still seems like a bargain in comparison.

Sorry if this is seen as nitpicking, but that particular car is still in Japan and is still with the Japanese dealer who is trying to sell it.

Edward Lee's outfit don't actually have the car, and it could end up anywhere...

Was curious to know how much ¥ was being asked for it? Not that I could ever afford it, just curious to see how profit Eddy was expecting to make.

I believe the Japanese dealer has an '¥ASK' sign on it, alhough I haven't seen it myself. Means it's open to negotiation and he's looking for offers.

As a *late* 432 with the "240Z body" (I know - don't do as I do, do as I say... ;-) ) it's certainly less sought-after than the *early* cars, and therefore perceived as worth less amongst those who own them. It also has quite a few modifications and missing 432-specific pieces, which tend to be bargaining chips for those who understand them and therefore ought to repress the price a bit.

I think things are a little strange with the S20-engined cars at the moment, and they have been confusing for the last couple of years or so. The increase in interest from outside Japan - and especially the high USA auction result of the 1970 silver car vs the lower USA auction result on the late blue car - has stirred things up a little, and my impression is that it has made some long-term owners a little uncomfortable. There are certainly well-funded people - who seem to know next to nothing about the cars - actively seeking to get hold of one either for perceived cool-factor or for short-term financial gain. These are the kinds of people who might pay over the odds for a modified and/or *late* car, and all it takes is one personal to pay.

There is usually a middle man who has agreed a figure with the vendor, plus his commission.
